I have an older relative who’s looking to buy a new Avalon this year, and she is set on having navigation as a feature. In Toyota’s case, I think it’s been slow to implement due to not wanting to relinquish control to Apple and Android.

My Ram I traded in had CarPlay and AA. I use both systems, personal phone is android work phone is iOS. I actually prefer my current setup with the phone in a Hondo mount and using bluetooth to connect. Both CarPlay and AA have a lot of little bugs or gremlins that made things difficult. With my Note9 I would have regular freezes if I used Amazon music which is what I use most. Definitely to each their own but personally I prefer not using AA or CarPlay.

Does Apple Car Play reduce the amount of distracted driving accidents? Or increase them?

That’s true but to me that’s a minor detail when you are speaking of trading a vehicle in for just that feature when you can spend $200 and use the screen on your phone and have it displayed on your head unit.

Understood. I wouldn't trade my truck just for CarPlay. I might be the only person in the world who has good luck with the factory navigation.

Yeah. I actually don’t have an issue with mine either and don’t quite understand why others are having issues with it. I get some aftermarket ones offer different gauge displays but I don’t know.

For what it’s worth my 2018 has the rear diff howl even with the TSB parts installed. I think i have one of the louder ones though. It also goes in next Friday because the rear diff is now weeping.. 8k miles. 6th time going in for the rear end ha so 2018’s still can have those issues. If I didn’t like the rest of the truck so much I’d sent her on her way a while ago. Lol

My girlfriend just bought a 2019 Rav4. After two days of playing with Apple Carplay I don’t see the big deal. This isn’t to say I dislike it in any way but I don’t see the big attraction.

What's wrong with streaming music over Bluetooth? Only other "benefit" with CarPlay is the text message display, which you should be paying attention to the road and not texting?

I want to know who are all these people that need navigation all the time? I mean some of you are just driving to the same Applebee's and Costco anyways.

But if the line at the usual Starbucks is too long and you are late for your yoga class, you need to find the next nearest Starbucks quickly.

With the mirroring option, can you listen to a local FM or XM channel on the trucks radio and also have Waze up on the Entune head unit?

I use my truck for work, so I use it to find addresses of homes and businesses everyday.
