How does HAM compare in price and overall physical size compared to CB?
I’ve got “comms” on my parts list for the 4Runner, but am at least a year away from spending any money. If HAM is the way to go, I’m interested in getting educated.
I’ve got a pair of 15-year old Motorolla talkabout handheld 2-ways right now, not terrible, but not great either.

    Everyone should get overland points.

All get our ham radio, then everyone get a portable or hard mount rugged radio

All depends what you're looking for.

They can be pricey to relatively fair prices same as CB.

Majority of them are smaller than CB

All we need is an HLVW to tow it.

If you drive just past Barrie there is tons of snow apparently, but otherwise we are stuck with summer here. Which I don't mind, no salt on the road!
There are 2 events coming (snow depending though) . :spy:

Can we borrow some toys for a snow run? :headbang:

I have the exact same ones in a different color and they work great. I have used them in snow, sand, and mud. I used them at Peters last year in the snow run of crazyness at -22C and they didnt instantly shatter like the smittybilt ones did :rofl:I kept them in the access cab area of the truck so they did not freeze before I used them, I believe that was the key to keeping them exploding.

They work really really good in snow, I tested them out this winter and am very happy with how well they worked. I thought if you buried the rig to wheels spinning it would be alot harder to get it out. These are so easy its amazing. Faster than setting up and winching most of the time.

I paid $253 from a local guy for 2 sets of them, he only had green and I didnt care.

Nice! Yeah, that's what I was wondering about, how they hold up in the snow. Reviews do look good.

What model radio do you have? Interested in getting one, maybe 2 so I can toss one to a friend/convoy partner who isn’t comm equipped.
