Ever considered Bumper Shellz by @eCOOL1? That’s my plan for covering up the chrome bumper caps.

For a small increase of 3x the Tacoma price.

I honestly have a theory that the next gen Tundra will get a de-tuned version of that engine. It makes sense to me as the Lexus LS had the 4.7 before the Tundra, why not put a turbo v6 to compete with ford.
Him getting the car or the turbo 3.5 existing?

2019 and zero issues so far. We took our first family road trip today to take the dog to play in the snow and I continue to be more impressed.

I tend to plug my phone in to the USB when I drive so that would not be a problem using CarPlay for me. I use the Bluetooth feature now which is fine but the volume difference between radio and XM is somewhat ridiculous and I don’t remember having that issue with CarPlay on my wife’s car. I do like the fact that the Bluetooth feature remembers what you were listening to on Spotify for example. I shut the truck off, grab my phone, run into a store or whatever and when I get back in the truck it starts playing again automatically. In my company car I have to reconnect to Spotify each time so I tend to just listen to the radio in that car.

Addendum: yes, I was drunk-worlding last night and I couldn't find the haiku thread. Damn it, can't it be sticky again?

The best way to get what you want on your head unit is to spend a few hundred dollars in the aftermarket. No matter what Toyota puts in there it will always be out of your control.

My $400 android aftermarket swap runs Waze, Spotify, Apple Music, Radar Now, Carista, Torque, Pango/MeterUp parking apps and anything else I want it to. I can sit in a parking lot waiting for my kids to come out of soccer practice and watch movies on Amazon Prime or Netflix. It has AV OUT so the kids can stream movies to a screen in the back if I feel like hooking it up. It uses wifi for internet, BT for phone/SMS, USB for whatever, has backup camera and steering wheel integration. That is all from a cheap Chinese Android unit installed by me with a Toyota CAN "adapter" and a handful patch cables. For a grand you can get a name brand unit (Sony, Alpine, Kenwood ... ) from Crutchfield and a pro install if DIY isn't your thing.

I cannot imagine the logic that says "I'll trade my truck to get a better radio" when you know whatever Toyota gives you will be compromised compared to anything current tech on the aftermarket and/or their attorneys fear of letting you have any personal responsibility. The best option Toyota could offer IMO is a dash unit delete for a $1000 credit.

Just download android auto to your phone. It'll auto start Pandora when it's connected to the truck and such.

As far as apple.... Get an Android. It's better :p

I see people crowing it should be wireless. I want to add, as someone who has had it in their two other vehicles, wireless sucks. It is laggy, prone to issues. Wired works awesome. Plus, it charges the phone. I rarely charge at home, just plug it in and CarPlay pops up and off I go.

Also - if you spend more than an hour in the vehicle, you will appreciate CarPlay or Android Auto. It makes all the difference. I haven’t seen wireless done well, its just a gimmick.
