I have spent the last two weeks slowly but surely vinyl wrapping the truck in Avery's SW900 Satin Khaki vinyl. This was my first time working with vinyl, outside of number plates / graphics kits on dirt bikes. My paint was in pretty bad shape from years of offroading and something had to be done - I was split between vinyl and spraying on a tan bed liner. I ended up going with the vinyl, which will have been the right decision if it lasts 3-5 years. I am concerned about how durable this stuff will be when I have 2" thick branches scraping down the side of the truck.

The sun was only up for 5-6 hours a day this time of year and this was the first sunny day in a while that I had the time to go take pictures. The vinyl really does look different in different lighting conditions, ranging from a tan to an almost OD green.

Swapped wheels and tires about a month ago for practical reasons - went from 17" wheels with 35x12.5 tires (which measure an actual 34.3x13.2) to 16" wheels with 285/75/16 (~33.8x11.5) tires. The thinner and lighter tires handle multitudes better on the highway, especially on ice, than my previous tires and I gained 1 MPG in the swap.

I was able to find the Duratracs in 285/75/16 on Amazon with qualifying prime shipping (couldn't find any similar tires in 17" wheel size) and ended up selling my old wheels and tires for $600 - the combination of which made getting new wheels and tires from amazon cheaper than buying just new tires locally.

    Looks great! :cookiemonster:

My vinyl is on year 3 and still has no problems other than the rear bumper that I mashed into sand and mud a few times scraping it along the bottom edge.

I wrapped my truck to prevent trail damage to the paint and it seems to be working so far.

Looks great. Just curious on how much vinyl does it take to wrap the tacoma?

I bought a 65' roll and have 10-15 feet left over I would guess. But I also don't have bumpers to wrap or fender flares to pop off and wrap.

I initially wrapped the door handles and the mirrors on one side, but I realized two things - it needed some accents and vinyl wrapping the mirror is an absolute bitch. So I unwrapped the one side and painted them all.

I am going to get a vinyl cutter/printer deal and make some subtle black vinyl decals for it.

Looks amazing! The fact that a wrap job around here cost be anywhere from 3-5k, do you mind me asking how much the roll was?

About $600 off Amazon prime for a 65' roll.

    I had 10-15 feet extra.

What was the most difficult section other than the mirrors?

The front fenders. The multi-curve nature is what makes it hard to get a wrinkle free finish. Stock bumpers would also be hard, but I don't have them so I didn't have to deal with that.

The doors were the easiest. Taking off the rear door handles is a bit of a PITA compared to the fronts, but is necessary.

Bro this looks sick. Did you unbolt the bed? How about around the window rubber stripping?

I did not. I removed the caps and wrapped it. My bed cage runs through the bed in a manner that makes removing the bed/bedsides impractical.

Yes, removed all window trim and door handles.
