Thanks, Fellas. I did get a little help from @Rattletrap66 today, but it was a spur of the moment thing and he only lives 10 minutes away. But anyway, the long and the short of it is the OGT is officially 3.5WD again. Tomorrow or the next day she's getting new coilovers (5100s and 620# Eibachs) and the front end will be buttoned back up. After an oil and filter change the skid will go back on and hopefully she'll be ready for the annual meet, where hopefully I will break nothing now that I have an open diff in front.

When I do the lift on the T4R, I'll try to plan it so everyone can come help, instead of like today when it was just a spur of the moment thing to clear my head space.

So now I have an empty front diff housing in the shed (because I'm a cheap bastard and I don't want to pay to ship scrap metal along with my diff), an Eaton True Trac in my room, and a pile of other parts for the T4R and one special surprise for the OGT once she's on 35s.

 

I've been more of a lone wolf than Alfuh lately. A mod day sounds like a good time! Hopefully schedules align.


Oh, and the 4Runner finds it's way off the jack stands...

 

Project complete just need to paint it and get some pvc for the tires

 

Once something drives under its own power it’s complete in my book haha

Well, this is done...I think they are a little stiff, but that will probably be a good thing in the long run. Of course they could soften up after they get some wear on them, but either way, I guess.



Poor Natty gets the OGT's cast offs...



Edit: The interesting part of those first two pics is that I've actually had a non-factory set of CV axles long enough for them to get all rusty looking.

Honestly, if you could source the hydraulic cylinder/pump, you could probably make a bomb proof one that would have enough lift to pull the engines out of our trucks.

That was a friend's, and it was a piece of shit haha. He took it back a while ago for a project of his.

I'm actually looking for a lighter one, like a one ton or so. I'm gonna kind of hack it up to make it multi-purpose

 

After doing some brief research, I found that you can get a new one from harbor freight for the same price with the correct coupon . Thanks for the link though. I ended up finding a coupon for a 1 ton hoist from harbor freight for $99. Couldn't beat that.

I've been thinking about it and it occurs to me that it may not be that the new coilovers are too stiff. It might be the opposite. I think they might not be stiff enough and are slamming down on the front bump stops pretty hard. I'm gonna put some grease on the bump stops tomorrow and hit a few speed bumps and see if there's any grease on the pads. If that turns out to be the case, then Natty might just be getting those shiny new coilovers after all and I'll be seeing if OME 883 springs will work with 5100s.

 

exactly haha. I was real close to getting the 2 ton for $180 but I'll really only be using this thing to move axles and other similar things, not pull motors out of trucks, so this will be plenty. Plus, it's smaller so it's going to be easier to store
