    I’ve read a couple of threads that people inferred to 0W20 RP causing issues in 3rd gens. I’ve searched, but cannot find anything that says what issues were noted?

    I would doubt it caused any issues, buy there are cheaper alternatives to RP in 0w20 that will work great

    Pennzoil Platinum at ~$24 for a 5qt jug is a good quality alternative

    If you use royal purple in any part of your Toyota drivetrain...you’ll end up with leaks! Don’t get me wrong I love this company’s products just not in my Toyota drivetrain.

    I used RP for pretty much the entire life of my gen2 taco - 211,000 miles and never one drop of oil leakage

    I have been tuning JDM cars for my whole life. The only time I lost two engines due to oil starvation was when they were on RP. k20a2 and 4g63. Never again.

    Supposedly but I'm sure the top oils are pretty much comparable with the differences being nominal.

    I just saw that on Amazon a week or so ago and was throwing it out there.

    I use whatever the dealership puts in mine.

    All the usual diesel truck mods- fuel system upgrade, programmer, CAI, intake manifold, 60MM stealth turbo
    Oil “starvation” sounds more like a pickup and or delivery problem- not an oil problem. We’re you meaning to say the oil had degraded/ sheared and didn’t have the minimum viscosity to lubricate?
    Did you happen to have any analysis done on the oil following the failure? Maybe the selected viscosity wasn’t suited for the tolerances that the particular engines were built to. I know where you’re coming from though. I lost a axle bearing shortly after changing oil to Mobil 1 synthetic and I’ll never use it again. Just lost any confidence in it even though everyone swears by it.

    Tried mobile 1 in my 3.5 and it seemed to run noisier than the Toyota oil, so I went back to that.

    I think the argument is that RP is too slick being a true pure group V with a slick additive package. But, it’s marketing has people swearing by it, see the Amazon 0W-20 reviews. Personally, I like the price point of Wally Mobil 1 EP at $22 for a 5qt. Next option I like the AmsOil 0W-20 Signature
