I’ve got some bobcats on my property but Illinois only issues 500 permits statewide so they’re pretty hard to get. We couldn’t even kill bobcats until 2 years ago.

If permits become a little more available I’d like to get one for my deer room.

Yeah seems like a few years ago they were bringing $30-40 but you pretty much have to trap em to keep from having a massive whole. I use a .243 and even it came out bigger than a golf ball which I assume is no bueno in pelt land

Couldn't they sew up the exit hole? when I was a kid in Nevada we'd come across big piles of dead coyotes all skinned down to their paws. Awful smell in the hot sun. I have never hunted coyotes but would like to start. My state is open year around and allowed at night except for deer and elk rifle seasons.

I guess they could but I think they still dock you for it. Coyotes are the same here but night hunting can't use a center fire rifle... I kill most of mine from my stand or out my window somewhere on the back side of my house haha

Got them here too, but can't hunt them.
I've called more than a few in while hunting Turkeys.

I shot my first one 8 years ago. Shot it behind the shoulder with a .308 and it still ran 40 yards.

Went to Cade’s Cove this weekend. Saw several stud bucks, a coyote, some big hogs, and my first ever bull elk in Cherokee, NC.

It’s awesome that they are putting elk back on the east coast. Are there any plans for hunts in the future?

Not any time soon that I’m aware of. I’m sure they will once the populations are up to snuff. They were just reintroduced recently so I’m sure it’s nowhere near where they want them to be yet.

I love it. We went through twice yesterday evening. Then twice again this morning before heading back home.

They've been working at it a long time in KY now. Been in the lottery every year for the last 15 years, it seems, to get a tag and never do.

Even if there’s not a lot of opportunity now it’s cool to think that maybe your kids or grandkids could be chasing elk through the Appalachian’s and the foothills some day:thumbsup:
