Just purchased the Total Choas swaybar retaining spindle gussets! Moar things to weld. I've done quite a bit of reading on the subject, and here's my welding process.

I'll remove the spindles from the truck, and prep them for welding (wire wheel the paint off). Then I'll bake them in the oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes to get them nice and warm.

I'll stitch weld them, bouncing back and forth between spindles so I don't overheat and warp them. When I'm done, I'll toss them back in the oven, and shut the oven off. That'll allow a nice, slow cool down.

Not everyone does this, but it certainly won't hurt anything and will hopefully relieve some stress introduced from the welding.

I think you'll get great results doing it this way. Also when you are stitching go to different areas than where you just welded.

That's the plan! I'm also going to pick up gas and weld with that, to try and get less spatter. Adam is going to let me take his bent spindle and weld some scrap 1/8" to it as practice and to dial in the welder settings.

Sounds interesting and overwhelming at the same time. You should throw some chocolate chip cookies in there too in case something goes wrong so your happy no matter what.

Yeah he ended up bending it. It became obvious when we took off his SPC uppers and replaced them with JBA. On the trail, we were able to move the upper BJ to get it driveable, but here's what it looked like after JBA. That was after messing with alignment cams to get it as good as we could. So he ordered new gusseted ones.

Yeah that's not good. I've got that set sitting in the garage. After the 63 swap I'll send them off to glorifiedwelder and have a set sent my way.
