IIRC that is coming from the Laurel Valley entrance, take HPR up, then just past a camp site on the left you take a right onto Canebrake Rd, wind around for a while, then there is a couple of switchbacks, a footbridge on your left, then the creek crossing.

I've installed 3 of them on 1st gens.
Toughest thing was removing all the ring gear bolts because 4:56 gears. You may not even have to do that.

You do the ring gear sits in the way of the pin to get the spiders out.

Saw this at the store. Kinda looks like a shopping cart got lodged under there and he put fog lights on it.

Yeah I just haven’t sat a day aside to just do it. I’m pretty sure I’ll have to remove my ring gear because the way the pin sits half of the gear ring covers it.

That's simply not the case with all gear sets
Only very low gear ratio gear sets do you have to remove the ring gear so that the pinion shaft can be removed.

I've done 3,1st gens. Only 2 did we have to remove the ring gear.

Our 2nd gen diff is different they made changes to the carrier and such beefing it up. From the pics I've seen unless you thin the ring gear down be half or so you aren't getting that pin out.
