I had it leftover from another project, any hardware store, home depot, lowes, it's called a continuous hinge, or piano hinge

Picked up the hose at Autozone this morning and put it in as soon as I got home. I feel good about it. My true test will be when I hit the interstate this weekend.

I just got home from my daily commute...about 25 miles one way...mostly highway. Strong crosswinds most of the way home. Zero kazoo.



Can't even tell it's there.

 

I used 1/4" window screen spline in my door's weatherstripping, and it seems to have fixed the Kazoo sound. Haven't heard it since, but I've only driven my truck through high winds once since then.

I ordered it on Amazon, since most hardware stores/home depot didn't carry 1/4".

 

Did you insert the tubing inside the seal or set it behind it?

I went back out to get some wings for the game tonight and took the interstate, Truck seemed a lot quieter

 

Swapped out all 6 spark plugs today (had the day off work) and swapped out the rear diff fluid on Saturday for Lucas Heavy Duty conventional. I noticed the 3 plugs that came out of the driver side were a little lighter than the rest with plug 6 having some sort of deposits. Anyone think this is something to be worried about? Truck has 120k on it.

Yup. Took the family camping in the Taco this weekend and had a blast.

 

I tried with irrigation tubing and I can't exactly say it was that but my speaker took a shit and there was a bunch of water in the door.

 

Some people have reported success with inserting the tubing into the seal. Others say placing it under the seal is better. I chose under it for the ease of it. I also felt like 1/4" was too thick to comfortably fit under it.

I do have 1/4" tubing inside the corners, along with this lube, which came recommended by some folks on a VW forum. Combined they silenced my squeaky corner....a separate issue and not related to the kazoo noise.

 

Haven't heard of that. Probably just a coincidence.
