With the turbo being top mounted like that, what are you doing to get rid of all the additional heat in the engine bay? These trucks already have issues with the glue holding the hood supports to the hood. Add 1500 degree turbine temps that close to the hood and that could be interesting haha.

This may not be as much of an issue since it may be in people's best interests to get custom tuning from Mat for the turbo, rather than just running a OTS map forever. I wouldn't be surprised if Mat provides the OTS map to get the truck running after someone installs but fully expects custom tuning requests from there to dial it in properly. This also reduces the issues we've observed with 1.01-1.05 development, where it's already obvious that custom tuning will be the only thing that saves some trucks lol

If only there was a way to scoop air into a hood. A scoop-hood if you will...

The actual feed into the engine bay may not be ideal for this application, buy since it is fiberglass, it could be re-worked pretty easily.

Yeah, as much as it sounds "manly", I was hoping something more stealthy. Perhaps that means less performance. NOT looking for a street racer or something that sounds like one. I might well be in the minority.

And judging from recent pictures/comments Mat might want to update post one to avoid the type of confusion present in the tune thread. Every time the course of action is changed/updated post 1 should be updated 1st. Again, I'm probably in the minority. But it seems most people want less BS in the threads. Keeping post one accurate will help.

And YES, there will still be idiots who will not read it (or the OVTune blog, which should also be update first). That shouldn't be an excuse for me to have to read every single post to get current info.

You may be in the minority, you may not. But you're not alone. I feel the same way. It'll be some time before I can afford the kit, but I would want something that doesn't make my truck a race car. I've been there, done that, and got over it.

The EFR in my mazda was a aluminum INDY series. Ridiculously loud, retail EFRs aren't that loud, but you can hear them.

A consideration/request for this system - Can you make the turbo mounting/intake compatible with secondary batteries that live in the aftmost empty space on the passenger side

Also will the intercooler be only in the upper grill area? A lot of us have lost our lower grill areas to bumpers/winches that would steal any room otherwise available for an intercooler.

Good point. I've a nice fat winch sitting behind my bumper.

Turbo blanket and down pipe wrapped or all those ceramic coated to help with heat. Might be able to make a heat shield too if there is enough hood clearance.

Curious about the piping too. My dual battery is the stock location so for me the possible route for IC piping by the divers side headlight is pretty much non existent. I'd almost wanna say if the turbo outlet was clocked straight at the throttle body you could stuff an AWIC in between the 2 for ultra short charge pipe routing. I can't really tell how much room there is from the picture though. You would be able to run a much smaller heat exchanger behind the grill but that is a lot of extra bits with the pump, tanks and probably an electric fan for the heat exchanger.

I want a turbo but I don't want it to sound like a turbo. Also, I don't want it to have an intercooler. Also, can you please make it compatible with all my other mods including onboard air, dual batteries, winch, and front bumper. Oh, and also it must produce 400hp+ and be less than $1k. Also, stand by for any other changes to the requirements that may arise from future modifications I have not yet performed.

    Thanks. Byeeee.

    This lol

It's gonna fit the stock truck, it will be our job to make sure it fits with any other mods we add.

I bet there are a large amount of folks who will be buying this turbo who already have heavily modified trucks with things like bumpers, dual batteries, winches, etc etc etc. A potentially small design change now to accommodate things like these could greatly increase customer base by making installs for people with modified trucks easier.

Personally - the charge piping/intercooler routing isn't a deal breaker for me and I can get something custom made if need be. But if a post that takes me 5 seconds to write saves me hundreds in fab cost and potentially helps other members out - then why not??

single turbo now? Last time I checked it was a twin setup but I haven't checked in awhile. I'd rather see a single on there though.

Not that i have a compressor or anything in the bay, but if i had that shit would see the bed or the garage without a second thought to have the turbo.

As soon i found out it will be CA compliant and a better idea on cost I'll be saving my pennies
