How do plate bumpers and frame hold up on minor taps?

Say if your traveling 65mph and some jerk brake checks you, you want to tap him to teach him a lesson.

If your going to do frame damage with a stock truck, your going to get frame damage with a steel bumper. It'll save you damage from low speed impacts though.

Minor taps your truck wouldn’t even notice, depending what you tap. In that scenario, the other car will crumple and absorb the energy.

Another alternative is don’t drive like a douche and tailgate people to the point they feel the need to brake check you.

Can't tell if serious. If so, no. Just no.

Again, if serious, follow above, bolded, instructions.

Sucks doesn't it! Just seeing this too, but it's at the corner of Mundy Mill and Old Flowery Branch Road in Oakwood/Gainesville (near Mundy Mill and McEver) it looks like.

Yep, I was passing Lorettas heading towards Oakwood when the woman heading the other way turned left in front of me.

With this impact, I can't imagine any bumper making a difference. The only real damage to the ARB is that the uprights split at the base about 1/2", and the mounting brackets crumpled as designed. The frame ends crumpled too, so that absorbed a lot of energy. IMO, the wreck was actually worse than it looks. You can't even see a radiator between the bumper and the engine. The ARB is all the way back to the block, the block hit the firewall. The camper shell impacted the back of the cab hard enough to imprint the rear window on the front of the shell and dented the passengers side rear corner of the cab.

Personally, I'm a fan of heavy steel bumpers and plan on one for my 2019 when it comes in (just gotta figure out which one).

This happened to me in my 95 Dodge 2500 5.9L CTD in July 2013 coming home from work one evening after dark. Highway has zero streetlights and the asphalt was freshly sealed (jet black). I was doing the posted 55 mph and never saw the black cow in my lane facing away from me until I was right up on her (2nd gen Dodge Ram headlights SUCK). Swerved just enough to catch her right in front of me versus centered. Bent and slightly tore the HD bumper mounts, damaged driver front fender, totaled but didn't rupture the radiator and a/c condenser, broke the turbo intercooler mounts on that side. She bounced down the side of my truck denting the door, cab and bed fender. The HD bumper is a no-name bumper that was on the truck when I bought it. LOVE this thing! Used the truck and tow chain to pull the carcass off the highway and drove her home under her own power.

Bumper mounts were repaired/re-welded, turbo intercooler mounts repaired, salvage yard replacement fender and new radiator and a/c condenser. I firmly believe I would have been in very bad shape without this bumper.

I have to appreciate the fact that you hit a cow while driving a truck with a “New Mexico BEEF is great” vanity plate

Soon to be a promotional armored vehicle.
Sustained essentially no damage to myself or the Fab Fours bumper that made contact with a deer on the New York Thruway. It's a road of carnage with dead deer every few miles. Almost hit one on the way out to Ohio however was unable to miss the one I encountered when returning. The red line indicates where the impact began which I think was fortunate for me. If it just hit the corner I may have seen more damage. As far as I can tell, the only damage was to the light housing and the fog light is out. 70 MPH into heavy breaking, not sure how fast I was going when contact was made. I've hit deer before.........this time it sounded and felt MUCH different! Thank You Fab Fours! (bumper is Steel)

impressive. I've always heard negative things about Fab Fours....essentially that they are damage multipliers and not much better than a brush guard. Nice to see some evidence of the contrary.
