I don't know why so many are quick to dismiss the 255/85R16 option. It still gives you the added tire height and ground clearance of 33's, but without the big performance hits of wider/heavier rubber. They also work exceptionally well off-road at very low tire pressures on the stock 7"-wide rims.

Do people really think they look terrible compared to 285's?

Looks pretty good to me. Personally I passed on the size because there are no semi aggressive SL rated models. I wanted the soft ride plus SL's are lighter. If any come out in the future, that size will be on my radar.

A lift won’t help you fit 285s. The problem is the width of the tire. You will need more caster to open wheel space a CMC, bang the pinch weld, and verify offset of your wheels.

If you want a 33” maybe look into a 255/85

No issues with the 285s rubbing?

Beautiful truck, congrats! Not sure what your experience level is with off-roading, but your first post leads me to believe this is a new endeavor for you??? You state that you were hitting and rubbing on everything, on trails listed as "easy". That really shouldn't be. If your wanting to do more 4wheeling, it would be a good idea to hook up with a local 4x4 club and learn the basics of driving off-road, and obstacle management. Picking the right line that places the rocks in the zone with the greatest clearance, will do far more than upsizing tires and lifting a vehicle will. And if I'm way off base with my interpretation and you are an experienced off-roader, my bad. Cheers!

I haven't had any noticeable issues yet. But I have yet to take it anywhere to flex the suspension out.
