I think I’m in the minority here. But I much prefer the interior of the Tacoma. The only negative is the back seat space.

That being said, I am somewhat of a gear head. I keep a battery jumper, maps, flashlights, tow straps, lug wrench, first aid kit, etc. in my truck. I love the Tacoma’s compartments. Huge benefit. You don’t have to just put all that stuff in a bag in the back of an suv. It hides away.

As others have already posted, you've got to look at the 5 W's (Who/What/When/Where/Why) of your vehicle use. I had a 5th Gen T4R and loved it. Then I started flipping houses and got tired of towing a trailer everywhere, when I could just use the truck bed. So I sold the Runner and got a LB Taco. If you'll never use the bed, then a Runner will probably be sufficient.

I like the ability to be able to haul stuff with a new home to tend to, and the sunroof.

There is no substitute for being separated from wet, dirty, or stinky stuff. If you do a lot of hunting, fishing, mountain biking, other sports, or anything else that requires loading dirty or sweaty gear in your vehicle, get a Tacoma with a camper shell.

For road-tripping between hotels or commuting, the 4Runner is hands-down a more comfortable ride.

For camping with a family, I still vote Tacoma. 4Runners are already top-heavy so roof-loading a runner is already a little insane. You are basically stuck towing a trailer. If that’s your style, sure, but I prefer not having to consider the complications of a trailer.

    You don’t need two SUV’s.

    Love my 4runner pro, I personally wouldn't buy a 3rd gen Tacoma.

I have a 2 year old and 7 year old and a German Shepard. With the dog in the bed, we're comfortable in the cab. I often think about how badass a 4runner would be but remember how much I love throwing our hockey gear, the dog, bikes, scooters, in the bed of the truck with no issue. And you can't beat a covered bed for camping. Key is having a shell. Mine is the softopper. This is my wife's daily driver right now for kids to school, sports, and groceries. Double cab long bed.

    Someday we'll have both

Got both what questions do you have? If you want a family vehicle the Tacoma isn’t it. The 4Runner is our family vehicle. Car seat no way can go behind my seat in my Tacoma. Also 4Runner has more room and can keep cargo(strollers and sports equipment dry with out dropping some coin on a camper or cover for the bed. Tacoma is great if you need a bed but if not 4Runner is best.F99F14E6-5CCC-418A-A292-03DF3A0943F7.jpg A157EEAB-EE37-440D-B395-1A1DD8A77548.jpg

Simple. Haul people = 4Runner. Haul stuff = Tacoma. Figure it out.
