Good news update for new full plate brackets. I sourced the aluminum plate material locally. Will start production by this Friday.

 

For the full plate bracket have you thought about just getting it lasered out of 3/16 aluminum plate? They could even laser the holes and all you would need to do is tap and countersink them.

 

I have thought about getting waterjet quotes. There are only 2 local shops with the laser machines and they are $70+ per hour plus the cost of material. With flat bar there is virtually no wasted material and there would be a lot of wasted scrap sheet material considering the dimensions being used. I just think it would overprice the brackets. If they gain any popularity I may look at outside resources. For now I just want to distribute a few and get some feedback on them. I really don't mind the labor. Another issue is shipping. A laser cut full size plate would be double the shipping price because it is outside the first class shipping parameters. As I ship in pieces they meet first class requirements. Once received it is a simple assembly of 4 screws through the tongue and groove fitted plates. Appreciate the input. If I was still in manufacturing as a Project Manager these would already be made by someone else. As I am retired out of that business I have lost most of my prior contacts.

 

As of today, 10/17/2018, 14 of the first 20 new full size brackets have been reserved.

Not for the small ones. All I have are 1 each of the full sized brackets. I have material but have been down with a knee issue. Looks like now the next week all my spare time will be tied up doing a collision repair for one of my kids. Postage rates just jumped a lot so upcoming prices will be changing slightly to cover the added cost. I hope to get rolling soon. Maybe by Feb 20th I will have more small ones made.
