Currently have a 2017 TRD OR ACab 4x4 quicksand. Took in for an oil change and saw the dealer with a beautiful 2019 TRD OR DCLB 4x4 Cement with tech package (JBL, Leather heated seats, Sunroof, etc.) Dealer will take my trade, no additional cash, and I'd have same monthly payment...for an additional 24 months. I am currently 24 months in of 60 month finance on the acab, so 36 more to go. If I trade for the 2019 i would just make the same payments for an additional 24 months, basically starting back at month 1 with no additional cash on top.

What’s your payment.....say $500 for easy math....would you pay yourself 24x$500=$12k to keep the 2017? That’s how I’d look at it.

The numbers will be different but I think that’s a ton of money for things you could upgrade yourself and keep the truck you have. Only major difference would be the DC vs AC

I'd do the math on the price of the new truck. NEVER buy a vehicle on monthly payments. Going to a DC would be nice, if you don't need the bed length.

    Let us know.

You hate your wallet? Impossible to really gauge the financial impact with no numbers, but no way dealer would do this if it didn't make them money and cost you money.

I would say this coming year may be a bad time to add to your debts.

You're asking US? You're gambling with your life there.

If you're married, you'd better ask your wife...or else end up without her.

If not...I still wouldn't trust us. We're a shifty lot. It's your decision to make based on needs. Personally I would stick with what I knew I could afford instead of borrowing trouble, but that's just me.

That's why I do my own services! - That way I don't get salesmen bugging me about trading and seeing new models and I keep my truck for 12 to 15 plus years. Is not the main reason you bought a Tacoma - reliability? - Your 17 is probably just broke in and they will always come up with gimmicky options to get you to trade with every model release. Live with what you have and enjoy unless you are rich and don't care about saving money.

    Best advice I ever heard:

If you have to ask (in this forum for example), then NO... don’t buy it..!

It’s all about your personal finances, if you have NO financial impact, then change out vehicles as much as you like, otherwise be patient and wait to be one of the first 4th generation owners.

But please don't complain about the lack of built-in coffee maker and nutsack air vent in the 2021 models.

I have a 17 offroad and wouldn’t even consider trading it for a 19. Personally I think we got the last best year without TSS and that Bullshit. I won’t say it doesn’t work or whatever but for me my 17 stays until it won’t run anymore. Won’t be too many years until a car without all that smart stuff won’t even be available.

If it was me I would keep the 17. That’s the last year that doesn’t have the sensors. At least I made sure mine doesn’t (trd off road DCLB) The 19 has too many things that can go wrong.

Don’t forget the one extra USB.

I’d wait for the refresh at the very least.. not enough difference to justify a getting deeper into debt.

Why the sensor hate? Safety systems (or lack thereof) on your vehicle can affect the totality of accidents and impact all people on the road.
