No way you are getting a fully loaded truck for the same terms you have now, the math doesn't add up...they are probably looking at an 84mo loan with either some negative equity or possibly break even trade in.

Always look at the actual numbers, not the payment amount.

It's still the same truck with a few added bells and whistles. Not worth it. I drove 40 years without backup camera, beepers and what not. Still, it's your money. Throw it in the toilet if you want. 2 more years of making payments would buy a lot of really useful and cool stuff. A trip abroad, A jet ski, bass boat, Rolex watch...

Yeah same monthly payment over a longer term.

I think you need to trade in your 2017 for a used Tacoma that you have ZERO payments for.

Pay yourself every month, not the bank.

A fancy brand new truck is being put way too high on your priority list and the only person it hurts is you.

I specifically said not that they don’t work in my post, but I don’t want them... no thanks.... been driving for 25 years without them. I think I’ll continue to be ok

Jesus I didn't expect all these responses so fast! I agree that not having the TSS and all the other crap is a big reason I would keep the 2017. I'm friends with a salesman at the dealership, so its not really a pressure situation, he was just running numbers and said this was their offer. For rough numbers on the first few posts, I owe $17k on the ACAB, they're willing to give me roughly 28k toward trade on the 2019 which they are selling for 40k.. With some dealer promo stuff/valuing my trade higher or whatever my salesman friend is doing.. it equates to same payment ($480), same apr, just an additional 24 months from the 36 i still have left on the ACab. I love having a long bed, but having more room for gear and passengers always has me looking at an DCLB.

DCLB is the way to go, I have to admit. Just don't try to make a lot of tight U-turns. Or parallel park.

$40K seems too much for that 2019, though.

I think it might be like 38k, you know how the dealers mark it high and then include some incentive cash back thing where they take 3-5k off, and value your trade high. I traded in a 2001 2wd 4 cylinder nissan with 200k miles and a failing transmission and they said they were applying 5k to the trade in.

So an extra $11,520 for a truck two years newer...and an extra USB port
Only you can decide if its worth it

I just considered trading my 2016 for a 2019 and decided not to. I’m gaining a few features on the trade but everything I have put into my 16 and the fact that it has never had an issue (knock on wood) didn’t make spending the extra cash anywhere near worth it to me. Love my ‘16!

I wouldn't do it, unless you NEED the extra room...sounds like more of a convenience to you at this point.

    Not worth it.

I have a dual USB charger that plugs into my 12V cigarette style plus in my Tacoma. I’d be willing to let it go for 6k if anyone’s interested

That is the identical argument that was used when antilock brakes and traction control came out. People where holding on to old cars to avoid that antilock brake sensors. Not reliable! :)

I think adaptive cruise is awesome! Not worth $11k though.

Just take the fuses out of the ABS, then remove the airbags.
Gotta change your steering column out for a metal spear so it doesn't deform accidently.
Lastly take off your unreliable disks in front and replace with drums, they're better for offloading anyway.

Ultimately it's not about the features, its about the extra space going from an access cab to double cab. I don't care about the usb and the TSS and all that crap, Hell if there was a 2016 or 2017 DCLB in quicksand for sale I'd probably consider that as well. But I figured that having a vehicle two years newer would also hold more value down the road. But yes at this point my unmarried single without kids lifestyle does not necessarily need a new truck, just kinda thinking down the road the acab lifestyle might not fit a family.
