Bungie's Destiny

How do you have yours config'ed? The bottom paddles that is? Right finger is X left is O? Something like that?

Like I said earlier I just ordered mine built ground up, I am sure I will take out the two middle ones as well.

 

Left paddle is X for jump and right paddle is O for melee (in warframe)

I think I remember seeing this a little ways back. I mean he brings up the ultimate question...what will it take for the issue to give? Bungie or activision...or maybe some of both. I mean the potential of what destiny could be would be freaking huge...always has had that ability which is why I think some guys are just waiting for Destiny to get right.

One dynamic I wonder is what if Anthem is successful and they prove that by taking some time, being transparent with the community, and so on that they can make a solid replacement for D? Would that possibly encourage bungie to step up D and deliver something worth a damn or would they just continue to throw out trash knowing they are second tier and everyone knows it? I hate to say it, but I am hopeful that Anthem can really knock it out of the park and scoop up the remains of what guys who play in this genre are left...it could possibly show D to just give the F up and that their collaboration with activision should just stop. As much as I would want to wish that, I would bet that activision is already way too invested in D3 to probably back out now though.

 

If they made it properly and worked out to where the game should be I would absolutely go back to the game. I stopeed playing about 6 months ago and got behind and with the status of the game now I just havent had the drive to get back into it and work my way back to a leveled out character. However, if/when they ever revamp it to what we all want it to be, like I said, I would absolutely go back to playing it. The years most of us have put into the game would be wasted if I just held a grudge and said fuck Destiny altogether.
Shit, for that matter I will probably still end up getting D3, if for no other reason than morbid curiosity just to see how bad they fucked it up or hopefully to see how they revamped it and corrected all the BS.

 

Im sure D3 will have quite a bit of coverage when it releases...any idea when the release date for it would be? I think the whole reason why I have been so hesitant to really commit to D2 is cause man I was burned so bad with D1 with the amount of hours and stuff to have to walk away. Probably the hardest game that I could do that...but since then man I have realized I am so guarded about getting into it ever since. Also like you said, I am now so far behind that fuck that I think I will just sell the game for a few bucks and move on. As crazy as it sounds, if Anthem is remotely solid then I think I will try that out. Its just sad that I can not trust Bungie through all the history they have had with this game. Whats sad as we have discussed before, that they have this bullshit vanilla-half ass year dlc-FIRST real expansion/year 2 shit that they have pulled literally twice in a row. In some ways I applaud them as I dont think any other game has been able to consecutively deliver watered down content for all year pass folks knowing they will be forced to pay again before they get their first meaty update to a game. I just hope other games dont see this season pass cheap out tactic as an "ok" thing to do.

 

I'm with you, D1 was amazing. And like you said, having to walk away from all my gear was painful to say the least. The fact that you couldnt roll everything into D2 was utter BS IMO.
No idea as to the roll out date. @RearViewMirror would probably know.

 

That's a good question about Anthem making Bungie step up their game. Honestly... my personal opinion is Bungie has pretty much tried everything and with the exceptions of a few standouts, not much has worked. I give Bungie credit for trying something that hasn't been tried before. As far as I know they were the first to try this grand scale shooter / looter type of game and that is one reason I gave them the benefit of the doubt for so long. I saw potential of what the game could be. But well over four years in and they still can't get it right? Nah... I'm done. I'd hate to see Bungie fold as there really are some talented people that work there. They are a ship without rudder now.

I've already preordered Anthem and I hope it's a good game. I'm not getting hyped about it though. It may be one of the best games ever made, it may be the worst, or it may fall somewhere in the middle. Time will tell. One thing is for sure... it is bound to pull some more of the Destiny population away from Destiny which isn't a good thing for Bungie at this time. Bungie has really timed their roadmap poorly with the release of Anthem right around the corner.

You may be right about D3 and Activision? I dunno? I think the way I personally look at it is Activision is looking very closely at what happens with Bungie this year. If more players don't come back to the game I just don't see a future with D3. I believe that the people that have given up on Destiny will see a new Destiny game and will react with a certain amount of "been there done that" and won't be willing to get burned again. I could be wrong though. This year will be very telling about what happens no matter what.

One thing that I applaud Anthem for doing is not charging a dime for any season passes. Every expansion will be free.

 

No idea when D3 would come out but I would assume 2020. If there is going to be a D3 it should be announced at this years E3

 

I agree with you on that...I mean the whole hype of D2 after having a strong D1 finish is what got folks invested in the current game. The thing is bungie has used all of their deception tools to where the community is now immune to almost any enticement they can throw out. People will remember D2 finishing with frustration instead of a "perfect game" like how guys viewed D1 with the memory of how D2 launched as well. I bet their pre-orders take one hell of a hit. Has bungie been pretty tight lipped on their PR for all this stuff lately? I remember back in the D1 days when they were all cocky and would do all these bullshit podcasts about DLCs that folks would be done with in a month which was when that dbag said his epic comment about kids throwing money at the screen.

 

Dude...I did not know that. That is a good sign and showing that maybe they really want to earn folks trust.

 

So far they have said the only thing that you can buy with real world money is cosmetics and I would imagine new Javelins that they release in the future. But they have specifically said that NOTHING will be hidden behind "loot boxes". If you see something you like you can buy that item and you know what you are going to get. If you don't want to buy it you don't have too. Warframe is exactly the same way.

Bungie hasn't even posted anything on the TWAB (This Week A Bungie). My gut feeling is they are in a panic at the studio now. I mean really... what do they have to talk about at this point in the game? I keep bringing up throwing balls at a forge but in reality that is all there really is to do in the game right now. How they ever thought that would keep people occupied for three months I’ve no idea? The only thing new that is coming out is a new forge (today I think). But if this forge is anything like the last one the grind just to open it up is stupid. It has you run around and kill a certain number of adds, take your shit back to Aida (for no fucking reason), kill more adds, go back to Aida, kill more adds, go back to Aida, complete a boring quest, go back to Aida, then and only then the forge “might” be open. You know what you get to do after that??? Throw balls at it.

 

I got called in last week to help with the new raid because there isn't very many left in my clan to run the raid. I agreed for some stupid reason. You know what I got out of it? Another fucking Two Tailed Fox. I'm so sick of getting duplicates. I hate that the entire game is based around RNJesus. I've said it before and I'll say it again, their weighted system is fucking broken.

That is why Warframe appeals to me so much. It take RNG out of the equation. You know where shit drops, you know what materials you need to create that item and where they drop, and once you have the items you create that item and it's yours.

I got called into another raid last night and finally said no. I'm fucking done with Destiny. So now there are very few left in the game that can "reliably" get the raids done. I hate to be a dick but I told them that I'm done with Destiny. I think they thought I was kidding but I'm not fucking kidding. I'm fucking done with the bullshit. I'll miss playing with them and I told them where I'll be if they want to join. But I personally can't take the game anymore.

I started a new clan from scratch once again in Warframe and have had a few from the clan migrate over to that game. Time will tell if more will come? Even when Anthem comes out I'm not going to stop playing Warframe. It's just too good.

 

I said it in the Warframe thread this morning, while I am still a rookie newb, I think I am going to be agreeing with you very shortly. The game rocks.

 

You and me both brother. I'm still a complete newb when it comes to this game. But I'm learning it fast. Hell... I didn't know that I couldn't invite more people into the clan until I built some shit in the Dojo. That's why I couldn't invite you into the clan last night. So I went to the Clan Dojo and created the shit that I had to make to invite more people into the clan. We can have up to 30 in the clan now without creating more shit in the Dojo. That's just "one" of the things that I didn't know lol.

 

I had a $15 credit so pre-ordered Anthem last night. I haven't kept up with the progress, but my daughter was showing me gameplay videos last night.

That Destiny video was interesting. I was unaware of all the crap that has gone on during development. Sounds like some unresolved creative differences getting in the way of creating a great product.

 

I went on and ordered the Legion of Dawn edition because... Well you know me lol.
