Electric cars nonetheless trucks is a no go for me. Too many electrical components that can go wrong not to mention the cost of repairs etc. I have a handful of friends that had owned the famous Tesla and the battery alone is 17K as two of them had them replaced on the course of 7 years. You think you are saving on gas? Wait until the car is falling apart. Thanks, but NO thanks.

I am not so sure you are correct on the first statement.
Would there not be less electric components as a whole? Being that most of the electronics in gas vehicles are used to keep track of the engine and ensure it doesnt malfunction. Depending on the drivetrain, whether separate motors at the wheels or some other way, they could essentially do away with more sensors....brake, motor function, speed sensor could be one unit so to speak.
    Just a thought.

I can see it now. 500 mile range unloaded. Towing 20,000 pounds, 75 mile range.

75 miles if your lucky. Their data is completely made up. 15 minute fast charge is insane for lithium batteries. Sure the batteries will take the charge but they will be stressed and they will be dead in a year possibility less will a fraction of their original capacity. Unless they have some magical battery tech that nobody knows about they are just making numbers up.

Also think of this. Tesla (Panasonic) manufacturers more lithium batteries than all other manufactures combined and still can't make a $35k compact car. How is a startup company, with no volume of scale, that needs to buy their batteries going to build a monster pickup that costs the same as a tesla model 3?

Agreed their price and specs make sense and are based in reality. I would be really curious how it would do for range while towing its rated 11000lbs. I suspect the range when towing would really kill its usability as a tow vehicle. If you don't tow it looks like an awesome little truck!

    ^^^you are correct

There is less electronics and complexity in an EV than in an internal combustion engine based system. They will be more reliable.

If you had to bet your life on starting your gas chainsaw on the first pull, or your electric chainsaw on the first trigger, which would you choose?

    Good insight.

I think we might move towards electric cars, but as a retired ME told me when I was young.... "Gasoline is just hard to beat."

Today, we still have a good bit of work to do before we are there.

I have a battery powered weed eater..... So much better than gas. I also don't have a huge yard though.
