Take 10-20% off the price for dealer trade in at least, if you sell it outright then you will obviously get more, I have sold/traded upwards of 25 vehicles and hate dealing with private individuals since most never show up and when they do, they low ball you anyhow..

Honestly, between depreciation, time spent doing all this swapping, and then shopping for and titling/registering a replacement truck... you might as well just keep it unless you're really looking into a much less expensive (say $10K) used truck (and can find a truly good one). But also keep in mind something older and cheaper is probably going to need brakes or tires or something to pass inspection, and who knows what other repair/wear surprises you'll be in for. So tighten your belt and save $50 a month and just put that to the Tacoma. I bet you can do it -- one fewer dinner out per month, two less happy hours, spend a little less on new clothes, drop a starbucks habit, take your lunch to work a little more often, whatever.

I would think KBB would at least be in the ballpark.

Good advice. I've very very seriously considered this approach. I do indeed have a loan on the truck, and a great one at that, 2.89% interest believe it or not and I already pay a little extra each month. I'm not upside down on it luckily so keeping it is not out of the question.
Regarding a new truck, I get it. I have cash on hand if needed for maintenance etc. It's more of a long term goal while also saving me in the short term. I'm interested in a used Titan between $10-20K. They are plentiful around here and very reliable. I had an '06 and REGRET trading it in a few years ago.
    Thanks!

Average the stock value of Edmunds, KBB, and NADA. Bump that up a few thousand and see if anyone buys it. You can always come down in price if it doesn't sell.

Throw it on Craigslist and auto trader or something. Then wait until someone who will pay what your asking. Sounds like you don't need to sell it ASAP.
It's when you need something to happen fast that you lose money.

Then rent a car for a week or two to find your next truck.

Man if you lived closer and I had some money saved up I'd take it off your hands. Exact same year, model, color and packages I want.

Amen. KBB is a joke. Been wholesaling cars for years NADA and Black book work and it's all we use. I can't believe anyone relies on KBB. I have bought a lot of vehicles and when KBB is even brought up I just walk away. They eventually get it and I end up buying it, but not on Kelly's prices.

$32-33k trade in and $35-36k private party. Have had 7 of these trucks, a bit versed in trading/selling/buying lol. Good luck.

Your 18 month old is going to love going for rides in the truck with daddy when she's finally allowed to have her car seat turned around forward. I'd keep it and make memories. Nothing like having a kid in the back seat yelling "High speed turns, daddy!" Except when she gets her drivers license and thinks the only way to take turns is "high speed."
