You have to remember that the dealer will probably try and get 36k for it. So they’re going to offer you like 30-32k. With that being said, you can probably get 34k private party.

OP be careful what you wish for because a used truck can easily cost as much (monthly expense wise) as a new one. At least with a new one your costs are fixed for a few years. That is one of the reasons I bought new as well. I understand why you might want to sell it but any monthly 'savings' will be based on a good, solid used truck with few problems.

Dang, you sound alot like me...I go through cars way too fast and blow/lose too much $$ trading out of them. I'm trying to stop that recurring issue. I've went Titan - Ford F-150 3.5 Ecoboost - Tacoma SR5 DCSB - Tacoma TRD Off-Road DCLB all in the past 18 months or so.
Thanks alot for the information, I really appreciate it. Thinking I may post it for sale on CL for $37,900 and see what happens.

Lol. I feel ya man. Bad habit to have. I’m bad in where I’ll shell out $1600 for a ceramic coating, parts accessories, only to trade in again. For perspective I just got my 19 cement off road tech and premium for $37291 new.

I live 10 miles away from the manheim auto auction that drives the "MMR" values and I can tell you dealers around here still just rely on KBB. KBB is an accurate way to value a vehicle. I've traded more than 15 vehicles and have always recieved KBB trade value.

If you trade it in your best bet is most likely a CarMax if you are selling it to them. Unless your trading it in to get the sales tax credit. Carmax usually gives top dollar for tacomas.

Honestly I bought a 2017 same model except without the packages with 5k miles for 33k. They had it listed at 36.5k and with kbb or nada(cant remember) told me it was worth 38k. It would be hard for someone to pay private of more than 35k I think because of the fact a new one isn't much more plus you usually get better interest rates buying new.

All great points, we have high ass taxes, fees and registration here in CO so that does come into play...something I need to remember actually.
    Thanks.

    30.5k trade
    32.5 private

    My rationale...
    Brand new...34.5k

Your highest $$$ would come from someone on TW that wants those mods. The mods are worth zero to dealer and probably very little even to private party.

I’ve got killed on mods on every sale I’ve ever made. I don’t even consider them to have value if I’m being realistic.

Take it to a dealer and get a trade value. At least you’ll truly know about where you stand. It may change your mind about selling.

Very true, I totally get it. For someone to pay top dollar private party I think it would take someone like me: Upper 30's, lower 40's...who wants a bunch of basic OEM add-on's and doesn't want to spend the money and time finding and installing them on his own(I'm going to throw the running boards and black badges on it this weekend, then all are installed)...that person could see the value I think, or at least I hope.
    Thanks.

The running boards are worth more as they are right now, as brand new and never installed, than they will be if you put them on.
