A similar truck new before tax is what? $36k? How are people coming up with 36k used? 36k plus tax puts a used truck at nearly 39k. Am I missing something?

I think realistically you're looking at around 30-32k private party. Same rationale many here have, why by used when 2-3k more you can get a new one. Hell theres a chance they have your exact truck new on the lot which is discounted to ~34 since the 19s are out.

You are not going to get north of 33k I'd bet

A truck optioned that way doesn’t come up $36k.

Exactly. I got mine below invoice, $41k sticker for $37291, you’re not getting a new one in that spec for $36k.

372xx is pretty much 36k. OP already has 10k on the ODO and is also competing with other used vehicles as well as new ones.

I think you can start at 35, then factor in taxes, licensing, etc. Then subtract a bit more for 10k miles and used vs. new valuation and I think you'll find the sales price at around 32k. Then you have to see what else is out there with lower mileage

I don't understand why anyone buys used Tacomas... not smart... I also don't understand why people start threads like this. a quick search online will give you all the info you need, at least as far as asking price... probably take less time and be more accurate than the info you get on here... so far there are answers between 30 and 37k... how helpful is that.

I agree with others. the mods are worth nothing, and I would pay less for one with running boards. gross.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I honestly think Black Book was invented by dealers to screw people. If a dealer says black book to me I just laugh and walk out while they are talking.

    This is spot-on.

I was looking at Chevy's a couple weeks ago and was offered $32k trade-in on mine. (Very similar to the OP's truck)

That’s still pretty much my point, brand new one is $37291, who is stupid enough to pay anything near 36?

Tacoma's hold there value better than any other vehicle currently if I'm not mistaken, because of that though getting a new one is almost always the better option. I looked everywhere for a lightly used 16/17 and every price I saw up and down the east coast turned out to be around and in some cases more than what I ended paying for a new 18. So with that, you could possibly get 36k if you can find someone who likes your truck exactly as it's set up and can appreciate the few additions you did. Other than that realistically I would say around 34k private sale or about 30k on trade.

    That’s an insane trade in.
