Obviously there was some sort of "trade difference" with that deal. Ain't no dealership giving that on a used tacoma.

@Tacoaric said he’s a dealer. I’m assuming he’s got the inside track to stuff like that.

Did you trade the tacoma for your now F150?

If he ended up with a f150 then I'm pretty sure that it's a trade difference. The dealerships actual book value is definitely much less and just took profit from the f150 to show a higher trade value, hence the trade difference.

Wrong, he has technology and premium packages. A screaming deal would like 36.5k new.

Yeah. It paid ask (internet price, which happened to be wholesale as they had it forever) and purely negotiated trade. I made out pretty well.

The MSRP on my 17 was 43xxx. I got a good deal and made out like a bandit when I took every aftermarket part off it when I traded.

Just to clarify, the question was "whats MSRP on the truck, around $36K?" The answer is no, MSRP was $41,225 and someone negotiated a nearly identical truck down to $37,2xx before tax etc. So saying the negotiated price someone paid is the same as the incorrect MSRP price assumption would be incorrect. Not stirring things up...that just rubbed me the wrong way :)
That would be considered a great deal in my opinion and most likely included a (relatively rare, once or twice a year?) $1000 Tacoma rebate. So assuming no rebate is ongoing then you can figure a smaller discount on going new.
I guess my logic is that if someone has a casual understanding of Toyota resale and sees a new and similar but less equipped rig for $41K+ may see my used and slightly more equipped one for $36K as a fair deal.
    Just food for thought.
    Thanks!
    Mark

I appreciate that mark, I do. But no one pays MSRP except maybe on a pro.... even then.

Look up your kbb, I'm sure it says 31-33k private party. And like I said you need to find someone who is willing to buy used just to save 2-3k.... it's not really worth it to most people which is why I figure your looking at the most 32. I hope u get more but I just dont think that's realistic. Just my $0.02 opinion
