Just called our local Tire Shop for X3/KM3 availability, and they have both in stock, but mentioned the few Tacomas they installed the KM3s on, 265/70-R17, they said there was rubbing issues (stock trucks as far as suspension).

Ive read everywhere that we can easily put 265/70-17s on our trucks without issue, but I'm guessing the heavier lugs on the MTs make a difference? Was prepared to get these today, and now with this, backing off until I get the lift on, unless someone knows something I don't?

Anyone have experience with the X3s on their stock trucks and have rubbing issues? I'm also on 1.25" Wheel Spacers, and eventually installing a 2" leveling kit. Just wasn't planning on doing the kit right off, too damned cold out, and garage isn't heated.

I am guessing by KM3 you mean BFG Mud tires? honestly if the overall diameter is the same as say a Nitto or something else it should be fine.

now, with wheel spacers I don't know. that is another story entirely.

Yes, the BFG Km3, and General Grabber X3s. They said on a stock Sport, it was rubbing, which surprised me, as I've seen sports daringly go up to 275 without issues... So curious as to why these MTs are different.

must be the lugs on the tread rubbing slightly. like I said, as long as the overall diameter is the same I don't think it would matter. I know some of the mud tires actually measure a tad taller than the A/T tires so maybe that's it? if it rubs I can't imagine its much.

I'm going to go peak at the Grabber ATX and Faulken at3w Monday first and go from there .Was really set on the mud tires, but that chance of rubbing makes me weary. Being a travel welder, can't take the chance without 100% knowing they won't rub. Don't need any problems while a thousand miles from home.

I get that. I feel as though you would be fine. maybe talk them into mounting one on the front and sit the truck down just to see? turn the wheels left and right, maybe even do a quick reverse check and see what happens. you never know, they may be willing to do that for you if you are buying tires regardless from them.

The KM3 seem to run wider is probably the problem.

I have the x3 in 265-70-17. No rubbing issues with stock suspension.

No leveling kit or anything huh? What offset are the wheels?

With my methods, -12 offset, I had to add a spacer up front to stop the rubbing on my 265/70/17’s. And those were General Grabber AT2’s.

I have the same combo, but mine have never rubbed anywhere. I have heard of some rubbing and some not. I guess it matters about the alignment as well.
