I think most of us have just bowed to the inevitible and paid the fee. The alternative for someone like me with thousands of photos stored and shared on there is just too much effort to change.

 

Understandable. Considering I have over 2,000 photos I can only imagine how many some of you have on there.

It’s only money, right?

 

I don't have many more than you but it is growing all the time. What will be interesting is to see what happens to those that have more than the maximum of 1000 stored photos and haven't gone pro.

@NYCO Bob, has anything happened to your Flickr account yet? Are you expecting it to?

 

paid. Not worth redoing 8,000 photos and growing. Not a lot of other services offer the image quality either.

 

Paid as well. Got the first year for $30 or something like that with some code in November. Not a fan of the world going to subscriptions, but I haven't found a way to move off-planet for less, yet.

 

The email I got last night stated this. Kind of sucks for people that don't know about this....

 

ugh is that time already up? i was going to upgrade to the pro so i didnt' have to worry about it yet... i believe they supposed to start deleting your photos next month, starting with the oldest photos until they cut you down to the 1000

I want to see how you do liquids. Specifically, I need to find a way to carry a 5-qt oil container, and a 1-qt gear oil - both standing up. Haven't found a tall enough box yet, and so put them in a bucket right now, which isn't very space efficient.

So do share.

Then you can change your oil for say a trip to Alaska..

I've never carried motor oil. Gear oil, yes. ATF, yes. Brake fluid, yes. Brake Klean, yes. Penetrating oil, yes.

Nobody changes their oil at 3K any more.

In the 150K miles I've been driving this truck, not once have I had to "top it off". And last time I carried some oil, Monte took it all for Frank.

And I never got any back

 

Lol I change mine at 5k. It was just a poorly timed political joke, not aimed at anything specific.

 

Mine doesn't burn it either, but it shears it down until it's just oil colored liquid haha

 

Well, since I guess I started all this oil talk... I like to carry 5qt just in case something crazy happens and I don't notice for a while or a big leak causes me to need to (nearly / completely) refill - I didn't feel like a quart or two would be enough to limp out, and 5 wouldn't be a full fill, but would be enough to struggle back. Plus, I'm lazy. I always buy 5-ers, and it's easy to just throw one in the truck for the trip...and then, usually on the return from the trip, I just change the oil, always keeping my inventory fresh.

OK, so that's my reasoning there. But it's a moot point really, I think. My bigger issue was about the container to put that 5qt oil and 1qt gear oil in while on the trip. The 1qt gear oil is actually taller, and so any container that fits the gear oil will also fit the engine oil...so let's just go with that .

I've been curious about this for everyone (not just Mike) - do you carry sealed containers of the ATF and brake fluid, or are they ever open already when the trip starts. I've carried some brake fluid, but it's been "the rest" of a bottle I didn't use whenever I bled the brakes the last time.

And btw @Blackdawg - the Alaska reference didn't slip by me. I WANT TO GO TO ALASKA. You're salaried now, right?

 

I carry a small, sealed bottle of brake fluid.

Regarding the refference to 5 qts of oil for an oil change. IMO, that isn't enough any way. In mine, I always put a full 6 qts with a new filter.
