I am looking at installing the Weathertech bug deflector on my TRD not sure if it will really do much. I think more than anything the black will really add to the Cement color contrast. Just looking for other's that have installed one.
    Thanks

AVS Aeroskin, it lays flat and is applied with the 3m tape. I think they look great myself as they lay flat on the hood

About the best pic I have showing the AVS bug shield.

Since there’s no clear coat on most of our trucks, putting 3m tape on the hood can be asking for trouble down the road. I personally wouldn’t do it.

With that said, I did put on an AVS bugshield II. Had it on a few months. I took it off to clean under it and wow, noticed it was scratching the paint off on both sides just above the headlights on the lip. THEN noticed it was a little off where it had indented the plastic on the surround!!

I took it off to never put it back on. That’s my 2 cents and your mileage might vary greatly from mine. Good luck.

Gator352 Southeast Toyota installs what they call Toyoguard Platinum which is a clear sheet installed on the hood. This is also installed on the mirrors and the scoop. So the hood is protected so I would only install it to add to the looks. I have a XSP package which Southeast Toyota installs as well which blacks out all the chrome lettering.

Hmmm, I thought clear coat was an industry standard.

Nope. The only colors that Toyota uses clear coat on is the metallic/pearl colors. All others, like my super white is a one stage paint.

Using the toyoguard on the hood is a good idea if going to use the weather techs.

This toyoguard is a sheet of clear almost like a membrane installed on the hood. You can see it on the corners there is a You Tube on this process I will try and find the link.
