The HF unit was a bit wobbly side to side in the store... which is why I passed.

I guess it could have been put together by a dumbass or something.

I’m gonna look out for some butcher block.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for or if you need an actual workbench or something that "works". But worth a shot. I've got one of the halves just sitting in a cabinet. It looks like this style of shelving. But I use the half as a "workbench". I have the metal frame, you just need to cut out a wooden top and if you need a shelf for the middle and bottom. I dont need it, idk 15 bucks?

Oh yeah, you can definitely make a sturdy one cheaper. At my last house I made one with 4x4 legs, 2x4 upper frame work and used a formica countertop for the work surface. I secured it to the wall studs so it would not move at all no matter how rough I was with it. I'm sure at times I had over 1,000lbs on it and it didn't care one bit. The formica tops are relatively cheap, look good, wipe clean easily and come in various lengths.

The best work benches Ive found that are reasonably inexpensive are Seville Classics. You can get them at Costco. They are extremely beefy and very high quality materials/finish. You wont believe it for the price. They are WAY nicer than anything sold at HD or Lowes. and WAAAY nicer than HF junk.

Just an FYI “schmeckle” is Yiddish for a penis and/or slang for someone acting like one...

Apparently it is also a thing on /r/rickandmorty sub reddit, there is a conversion to USD.

According to the creators, 1 Schmeckle is worth about $148 USD.

So he could be asking $8,880
