Yes thats the correct part#, I have the same one installed on mine. If you wanna save some money you can order it on ebay during a sale an save about 100$. But it works absolutely great on our trucks.

Had a local member who's way more knowledgable than myself but watched it. Took him about 3 hours total.

I've installed many Eaton Truetrac's in differant vehicles. They seem to be a quality unit, smooth operation. All the customers have been happy. If you are hardcore offroader you my want to consider a locker, air, electric, or mechanical.

I am not a serious offroader. Just wanted something more than Auto LSD with an open diff. When you installed them, were you working at a shop or just out of your garage? Any idea what a typical labor quote would be for that?

For those that have them what exactly are they good for in our trucks that auto LSD can't do? I have a Torsen unit in my 91 Camaro and that's nice for not leaving one leggers anytime I give it more than 25% throttle off the line but I can't imagine the need in a truck that couldn't burn rubber if its life depended on it.

Well The Auto LSD is fine for mild slow off-roading and it sort of works the way a normal LSD works. But the fact that brakes are used for Auto LSD, makes the system very inconsistent and hard to judge. The auto LSD also requires the SCS system to be on. Sometimes It works the way you want, sometimes it will beep and the brakes will pulse, and sometimes it doesn’t seem to do anything at all. In Michigan, most of our trails and off road areas are very sandy. When you are trying to get up and go in the sand or loose dirt, it’s nice to have a dependable mechanical LSD that wont kick on your Stability control if the truck begins to slide a little sideways. The truck isn’t for burnouts, however, the occasional donut in the rain is not possible with Auto LSD…

Agreed. My old Ranger FX4 could do smokey donuts on dry pavement, no problem. It had an LSD.

So let me get this right.
If you do install an LSD on a truck with an open diff and Auto LSD, the Auto LSD function is now obsolete right?
You cant use Auto LSD in conjunction with a mechanical LSD, correct? So that button would now just be Traction control on/off(hold 3 sec).

Correct. Just the 3sec hold for real LSD and SCS off.

Truetrac is an awesome upgrade. No downside.

Don't be scared of the install, it's not too hard. No need to mess with pinion stuff, just swap the ring gear to the Truetrac, press on some new bearings and reinstall carrier caps and shims. Mine needed nothing, backlash stayed the same and I was happy with the preload. Use a dial gauge to check backlash after install and use quality carrier bearings. Remember to loctite the ring gear bolts. Torque everything to spec. I used an oem gasket for the 3rd and some "Right stuff" gasket maker. I love that stuff, it is the best I've seen. No special LSD additive needed.

I installed mine in my garage. No worries.

I'm the rebuilder at a moderate size transmission shop, also do all the ring and pinion setups. Don't do billing or deal with customers, be happy to check tor you. Don't know how much labor rates very.
