Does anyone here have any first hand knowledge of the ride quality and height difference between the medium and heavy Dakar leaf packs? I currently have the heavy duties on, but also have a brand new set of the mediums at my house (OME sent me two packs for some reason). I’m considering the swapping the heavies out for the mediums for a couple reasons. One, I’m gonna go with 888 coils and bilsteins set at 0. Thought the mediums might allow the back to level out a little more than the heavies. Two, the heavies are noisy and creak like hell so I thought if I grease the hell out of the mediums before they are on the truck that they might not be so annoying. Speaking of, does anyone have a remedy for this creaking issue on these leafs? I have the new generation of the springs. Thanks for any tips and advice in advance.

Pull a leaf from the heavys and they will be equivalent to the mediums and then just sell the mediums

If so they are known to be pretty annoying I believe @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc has some black replacement bushings that are alot better

Check for anything metal on metal near the spring clips (horse-shoe looking things keeping the leaf springs straight). If they are the yellow bushings, those have a plastic feel to them and tend to be quite noisy. These are what we run:

as mentioned above take out the overload leaf and you will have the mediums, then sell me the mediums. Pretty sure shipping costs on these would be extreme to Colorado. Too bad for me unless you are coming out and bring them. ??

Since there’s some interest, I do have another set of the heavy Dakar’s just sitting in the crawl space. Only used them 6 months. I had called OME about the noisy springs and that’s when they sent me another heavy set AND a medium set of the newer models. I installed the new heavies and have the mediums sitting around. So I have two sets that I’ll sell if anyone’s interested and come get them or pay shipping costs.

I have the mediums installed (EL095R) and bushings are OME SB108 (black i believe) and have no squeaking issues but I do only have about 500 miles on them so far.

Do not remove the overload and think you are getting the mediums. The overload stays in.

To make the heavy leaf pack into a medium leaf pack you remove the third leaf from the top then reassemble the pack.

I know this thread is over a year old, but did you ever get rid of the ones you had laying around? I’m in Virginia.
