    It was a cabinet level government decision. They can decide whether to leave them open or closed. Usually they close them if it is a longer shut down, they wanted to leave them open this time.

    power is on but I heard they are going to turn it on at night and then shut it off during the day to continue repairs. Everyone is excited to take a hot shower tonight.

    At the risk of getting banned, the actual answer is when the government shut down under Obama, he closed the National Parks so that the vault toilets wouldn't overflow with shit, people wouldnt destroy the parks and possibly die. He was accused of grandstanding, thus, they are open now.

    Color me not surprised at all. I had someone try to merge between the Uhaul truck i was driving and the trailer I was towing going through Seattle when I moved north. The guy was in a convertible Miata and he was pissed at my vw bus on the trailer when it wouldn't let him in. :notsure:
