So the TRD PRO I ordered and was supposed to pick up today is on the lot........but the dealer fucked up and it is an automatic not a manual!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So frustrated. First time I ordered a Pro back in 2015 the dealer dropped the ball and never ordered it and refunded my deposit.

Classic dealer nonsense. Sorry to hear they threw you around. They'll say just about anything to get you in the door.

Find another dealer is all you can do. And be patient. I ended up calling around any buying mine at Fred Haas in Houston TX and driving home. Put a $500 fully-refundable deposit down on my card. Waited 6mo for the allocation to come through. Had the salesman send me pics of the MT before I flew down. Well worth the effort.

Toyota doesn't let dealers "order" a vehicle like say Ford or Chevy......they only get allocated what Toyota tells them they're gonna get. You'll just have to find a dealer you can trust and play the waiting game.

Hold out for the manual, they just want you to settle on an auto cause they're easier to get.

True, can't tell you the number of dealers I physically went to after having been told there was an MT on the lot and lo and behold all they had were ATs. Probably 5 or 6 places.

Back when I was looking for a used Tacoma, manuals (especially manual 4x4s) were difficult to find in SoCal and practically every dealer I went to tried to sell me on an auto instead because they're "just like manuals when you use the manual shift feature". Yeah okay buddy...

While they are allocated, dealers will also swap inventory. When I ordered my 2015 MT they traded with a dealer in AZ.

So many shady dealers and sales tactics out there. Glad I've got one that I can tell what I want and they'll go get it without playing games.

I have had great luck with my Dealer, they did 3 dealer trades to get Manuals and on my 17 they ordered exactly what I wanted, took about 4 months but was well worth the wait.

I prefer AT, but this made me lol!! Not even close Mr. Salesman.

I had to have a dealer do a swap and that was just for an AT OR in the color I wanted. The dealer 2 hours away dropped the ball on the one they said they “had” in stock. Hold out for what you want, you’ll enjoy it that much more. Try a dealer swap but don’t let them try to make you pay or help pay transport fees. Mine tried to until I walked out, the online sales rep reached out and ended up dropping extra fees.

That’s one thing that sucks about a rural place, have to play the game a little more then others. Not sure if that’s your case. I have the one here, two others 2 hours away, next one is 5 hours.

They did that to me too. She even try to spin it as a "manumatic". I told her if it didn't have 3 pedals I didn't want it. Went to a different dealership and got exactly what I wanted. Out of state...

You would not have any problems selling a Manual Tacoma either if would ever choose to do so.

Definitely classic dealer BS. Wait for what you want, I’d even aim to take my business elsewhere. Unfortunately dealers do this cause it often works for them. People are inpatient and want instant gratification, most are willing to compromise when the shiney new thing crosses their path. We’re all guilty of it, stay strong, you’ll be happier in the long run.

Hold out for the manual. It's so worth it.
