It’s Unfortunate but It’s how the managers train them. I sold cars for 15 yrs ( now a finance manager) and they will tell you anything to get you into the store. Best practice is to ask them to text pictures of the truck or send a video from their phone showing the options and window sticker etc. I had to shop 4 dealers to get the price I wanted.

I am starting to wonder if i should do a TRD OFFROAD and have them do a suspension lift and wheels and tires. They blamed the salesman who has been fired during this process....another guy took over my "file".

How could any human conceive this as reality. If it really is "just like a manual" then how come you never here "oh I can't drive an automatic, I don't know how to put it in D" <---- never been said. This is why people don't trust dealers. And they just can't seem to figure it out.

They couldn't order Manual TRD Pros for a while... I ran into a similar problem. They ordered my truck, a 2019 TRD Pro MT (but didn't think they got it in in time) because Toyota stopped production of TRD Pros in MT and canceled a bunch of orders or didn't accept the orders. I got a refund for my down payment, then about a week ago I got a call and they said my truck will be here in February (evidently they did finally get it ordered.)

Since then I have gotten calls from 5 other dealerships asking if I still want a 2019 TRD Pro MT as they are once again able to order them...

    Working on them
I ended up doing a 4 hour drive down to St.George Utah to WADE Toyota for a Super White Manual 6 Speed because they were the only one in the area that had 7 manual Transmission Tacoma's in stock and would prove it. They were great to work with did not BS me about anything it went well and I would go back to them again.

There's definitely an upside to manual, but having driven one for the last 16 years, i don't miss it. Sorry about the dealer, manufacturers should restructure the way they sell cars/do business and do away with middlemen all together, they can be PITA

yeah and to make matters even more pathetic, some of them even tried talking me about of a manual...as if I didn't know what I wanted, lol. It's so easy to see through their BS 99% of the time, the real snakes to watch out for at the dealerships are the guys in the finance dept (no offense if anyone here is one). They will sneak shit in on you despite any verbal agreement you've shaken hands on, always read every word of what they print out before you sign and never take their word on anything. This has been my experience anyway.

Man that sucks. Like other said, hold out for the manual. If thats what you want then you will not be satisfied with the auto. I love my cars in manual and to me the auto would bother me. Wait for your perfect truck. Its your money, get it the way you want it. Manual Taco is an amazing truck and its one of my favorite vehicles Ive owned.

Don’t give up on the M/T. You won’t regret it. Love mine. Whole different truck IMO.

6MT allows you to ignore 90% of the "My truck is a POS" threads on this forum, which is priceless.

Glad we have our Manuals, the thought of being stuck in an Automatic sends shivers up my spine, ugh!

The wife’s outback just spent a week at the body shop, they gave her a Nissan rouge (I think it was). She bitched every day about the automatic. Even stated that she may not be able to pass on her car to our son because manuals are so hard to find. We stopped buying VWs cause we couldn’t find a manual anymore.

I drove my Tacoma back from Omaha to Phoenix. Cavalry blue was first choice but nobody in Phoenix had the MT TRD Sport. Settled for white, but the more I looked the more I noticed the white ones everywhere. next choice was quicksand. Went through Tucson dealer BS that had one. Was gonna buy quicksand OR in Colorado but decided to make the 20hr drive back for the Cavalry. Worth it to me.

I have a classic beetle that is my DD. My VW Passat 07 that’s MT. Will not sell either.

Just wondering what the big deal with the manual. I’ve had two rubicons in the past one manual and the other auto. Auto was far superior off-road.

I sold a 1973 Beetle last year that I had since 1988, it was a project car that I unfortunately could not spend the time on.

For me it was just what I was comfortable with. I had a lifted, geared, locked, full cage tied into the frame Jeep TJ with a manual trans. I’m sure an auto would have been better for crawling sometimes. Other times you need to bump a ledge, and a clutch drop at 2k rpm unweights the front just enough on occasion. I also ran a cable to the throttle body and used a BMX bike brake lever on my shifter attached to the cable. Brake, throttle and clutch control.... more options than an auto would have given me. Just my opinion though.
