Is the grease you're squirting in there PTFE based? Or silicon or Teflon?, has to be to work in that application

For the Daystar greasable bolts and bushings (also Daystar) I use lithium grease...NGLI grade 2, was recommended on here in another thread since I didn't have any of the stuff that Daystar normally sells for their bushings. No bueno?

Probably is, I think a Teflon base would be better though. A PTFE.
I've no experience with it in eyebolts, and I could be wrong. But I think that would be best there. Many have more knowledge and exp than me on that stuff. It's not rubber right? The bushings are poly?

I think that's why the tri flow stuff works so well there. I believe it is PTFE based. I'll look real quick lol

yeah that stuff works on everything lol. But I don't think the popping is coming from the bushings, I think it's coming from the front end of the leafs themselves. It's either got something to do with the clamps that wrap around the front of the leaf pack (one of them is pretty loose even if I tighten the bolt) or the isolators in between the leafs are shot. Spraying the leafs down in the front with the Tri Flo gets ride of the noise for a time.

I also noticed that I can move the very top leaf up and down by hand on that side, the other side it's firm and can't be moved by hand. Weird but I looked it over and it doesn't appear to be cracked or broken anywhere. Could be because of that loose clamp. But that might also be something to look into.

Sucks you're having issues with them after that BS with the Dakars. I was all set to rip out that AAL due to the damn squeaking I started hearing. On a whim, gave it a blast with WD40 of all things on the top and bottom of the AAL in the front and haven't heard a thing out of them. Been almost 3 weeks now. We'll see how it goes.

Good luck tracking down the issue you are having now. Frustrating to be sure.

So apparently you want silicon based with PTFE additive

yeah I'm way more lax about this crap now than I was back when I had the Dakars lol. But yesterday the pop/knock was so bad it couldn't be ignored, but at least I have it narrowed down to exactly where it's coming from and can quiet it down when it gets bad. The worst is when you don't know and can't figure it out

Careful with WD40 though if you're going to be seeing any dirt after you spray it on...could make it worse when the dirt and crap gets stuck to it. Dry lube like Tri Flo is supposed to be resistant to that stuff but I doubt it really resists it much...I remember water working really well for me on the Dakars, just take a hose with a high powered nozzle and blast them for a couple minutes per side. Would keep them quiet for up to a week sometimes for me.

I second this. I havent sprayed anything on mine in months. Theyve quieted down over time just from rain/car washes etc. I barely even notice it even more.

I did try a dry lube but it only worked for a day. Haven't really checked lately to see if anything is caking on to the front where I applied the wd40 but will look.

Agree on becoming more tolerant to the squeaking after a time but popping is definitely something to not let go. Hope it's not serious.
