I'm dongeless, already have my 1.05 tune files, and flashed my truck today using the old flash manager app I have outlined above. I just need the latest version of the flash manager. Still need to ask Mat?

Just an observation - Do any of you guys have surging issues (almost like the truck is missing) when being light on the pedal, and at a low RPM? Almost as if you were lugging a MT in too high of a gear, but doing so with the AT. Don't think this was caused by the tune, as I sort of noticed this prior to the tune, but seems more pronounced now. Is this just a common theme with these trucks? Thanks.

Yes. This is somewhat present on stock (TSB version) but was, for me, much more pronounced on 1.05. One of the reasons I've said I like it for the highway, but not in town where you are light on the pedal and low RPM as you say

    Hmm
I flashed the first one and the gear box.....
Maybe this is why I’m having weird things happen

Yes. As @bshammer0 said, I had it on stock tune, but it's more noticeable on 1.05. I believe this may be the detonation that Mat was describing here: https://www.ovtuned.com/blogs/news/tacoma-1-05-tune-release-information-complete-changelog

    Just a guess.

Yes, 100%. I put a ticket in a week ago and haven't heard back. The truck is misfiring when it does this and shakes pretty good. It did it to me on 93 and 91 tune with 93 in the tank. Went down to 87 and it went away but that's with 93 in the tank. The tune is too aggressive on cam timing/ignition timing and causes the truck to suddenly cut power for that split second. Not good.

I've been running 1.05 for 12 days now and over 200 miles. My tuning has gone from original tune -->1st TSB --> 1.03/87 --> 1.04/87 --> latest TSB --> 1.05/91,

I can say 1.05 has been the best overall tune for my truck to date. I've regained the MPG lost on the latest TSB, which was about 1.5 mpg. The overall performance is great, for me the tip-in is perfect and the shift points are spot on... almost. For me there seems to be a certain condition around what I can't determine is a shift from 3->4 that is to soon, or TC lock. It only occurs in city driving when taking off from a stop on a incline where a there's a little more load and more throttle at around 30 mph, it bogs down a bit and take a bit of a stab at the throttle to keep going to get up to 40-45mph. It's not really a big deal, but the only little issue that if it wasn't there, the tune would be 100 perfect for me. I'm going to drive it more and maybe it will go away or I'll just learn to compensate for it or ask Mat for a tweak. But really, overall, smiles driving on 1.05! Thanks Mat!

Same exact review here. Mostly perfect. What I've caught myself doing is just preemptively giving more gas if i'm in a situation from a stop where I don't want the rpm drop, or if I know i'm going to need the power. I consider that just learning to drive it. On the opposite side, it is nice to have it drop when i'm coasting on flat ground for the mpg. But yeah, when custom opens I may submit a ticket to raise the rpm on that drop a smidge.

I’m considering trying 87 for the time being. I’ve always had a bit more of a low speed ignition issue than some trucks but on TSB with 93 in the tank I see maybe 2-3 misfires on a cold morning start trip. I saw upwards of 15 or more on 1.05/93. So maybe the standard timing advance off base ignition targets would work better. I also heard some pinging under acceleration on 1.05/93 but until this point I’ve assumed my misfiring and knock was just my truck and would require custom tuning to address but perhaps is more widespread ?

Anyone else either logging or tracking your data with ObD2. Sometimes the truck can “feel” like a misfire or stumble but not actually be misfiring so you’d need to see the data real-time or logged to confirm what you’re feeling

OVTune, when will 1.05 for 2019 be ready? Just got notification that my tune is on its way. I can’t use it until the 1.05 for 2019 is out right?

You think it is a big improvement from stock, totally recommend it?

Sounds like you might have gotten bad gas. 1.05/93 is running great for me, no detonation.

Yeah i need custom tune. 1.05 is great but the lift and bigger tires needs a more agressive approach for my truck.

Lol this is completely false. Runs similar/same low end vvt advance as the TSB from Toyota.
Run slightly less advance, depending on version.
Runs less base advance with more allowable MBT based on ignition trimming (knock learn) on 93.

This is where logging would be beneficial.

v1.05 there's only one file to flash, the one for the ECU. If you've done something else you should probably email Mat to find out how to fix it.

Here's one thing I do know, it absolutely exists stock, on any form any tune any tsb. Take it to toyota, show them. I'm losing my patience trying to fix this dumpster fire of a calibration.

Hell while you're at it ask toyota why they thought it's a good idea to have the world's, literally the world's most complex ignition scheme on the damn planet. it sure as shit don't make their cars drive better. Ignition tables, ignition MB deviation tables, inverse deviation tables, 4D efficiency, 4D inverse efficiency, an old scheme vvt compensation ignition table( like a vestigial organ or something from old toyota calibrations), various multipliers, a 16B secondary VVT correction, knock learning factor on top, IAT ECT compensator, it's ENDLESS

Why is one truck missing and the other driving great? Let's spin the ignition wheel and see what you land on.
