I am new to self installing car audio and had a question about amplifiers. I just swapped out all of the speakers in my 2016 DC to Kicker CS Series 6x9 in the front and 6.5 in the rear with the stock head unit . I’m thinking about amplifying them but my question is will that add more depth of sound and base or will it just make them louder ?

Adding a small amp made a huge difference for me after replacing the speakers with the kickers. Definitely worth the money. Used the alpine power pack amp. Fit behind the factory head unit.

I’ll let you know this weekend.

I already did the tweeters, and replaced all doors with the kicker CS’s. I somehow managed to buy a kicker key amp that will fit behind headunit, so let’s see how much better this already makes the kicker speakers sound

Just make sure your speakers have a RMS power rating at or above what your amp is supplying. Otherwise you can burn them out. From my experience, amping the speakers made them sound clearer and fuller, really helped with the midrange.

how did the alpine power pack affect? Did it make the high ends too loud?

After upgrading to the kicker tweeters and door speakers I felt the factory HU did not have enough power for the speakers and I found myself turning the volume all the way up to listen at a reasonable volume.

The amp not only improved the sound quality of the speakers, but it also increased the volume. I can now listen to music at lower numeric volume number.

The sound quality is great. My only complaint is with low frequencies and the door speakers distorting from vibration I assume. I do not have sound deadening in the door yet. On the amp, you can select which frequencies it will pass. I have the lowest frequency blocked and it seems to help. Once the weather breaks I’ll add an amplified sub behind the seat from my 2nd gen.

i am having a JL MX280/4 installed. Was going to do the key, but the guys talked me into the JL. The two independent crossovers front/back made sense to me.
