I had a 2012 JK and when I decided last year I wanted another Jeep I went and test drove a 2017 Sahara. In one test drive I remembered why I traded off the Jeep to start with. I did some research after I seen a Tacoma TRD Pro while out walking the dog. Went to a deal to test drive and knew immediately the Tacoma was far superior for me (at least for my time in life). Ended up buying a 2017 TRD Off Road and could not be happier.

Always liked the idea of a 6spd Wrangler Rubicon, Just not for me though.

-Don't like Chrysler products in general.
-Needs an exo to run proper trails here.
-Not great for daily driving or road trips.
-I live in the rainiest place in North America, removable roof is useless to me.

An Xterra Pro-4x 6spd is about perfect, I wish they still made them.

Nope I never went over 75 and most of the time was going around 70. Low speed limits on the two lane I take out there. The softtopper knocks off some mpg and I had more weight in cargo (2 extra people) than the multiple trips made on the same road in the jeep. But even average driving city/highway mix I’m getting 15.8. 4 liter is thirstier than the 3.5.

I had a 95 Laredo with a 5.2 V8. Major gas hog but, awesome in the snow. Never cared much for the wranglers. My brother had one and it was fun during the summer and a beast off-road. That wrangler was always breaking down!!! Now I have a 2011 Tacoma access cab V6 4x4 and It’s a much better all around truck. Took the Tacoma to the OBX and hauled ass on the beach passing my buddies wrangler. My taco has been reliable, great in the snow, awesome driving to the wineries with my wife and kicks ass camping with the bed tent I bought this year.
Now the wife can’t complain about sleeping on the ground level where snake and spiders are Yay!! To many mods to choose from on the Taco market

Former 3x Jeep owner and 2x Tacoma owner. What would you rather spend your money on, upgrades or repairs? Repairs go with the Jeep.

False. I repaired my Tacoma way more than my Jeep.

I cross shopped wrangler unlimiteds and Tacoma’s. I realized that I would almost never have the roof off on the wrangler, so the Tacoma made more sense for me. I’ll eventually get a two door or maybe the wrangler pickup, but for now I’m very happy with my Taco.

I have owned 9 Wranglers. All two doors. Enjoyed every one of them. The automatics didn’t constantly hunt for a gear. The last one, a 2016 Rubicon Hard Rock with 4.10 axles, would match my Tacoma in mpg on the turnpike even in wind. It was stock except for original size AT tires.

I brought the family 1995 Wrangler 4 cyl. AT home to Oklahoma last week from Seattle. Cruised 60 mph and wore ear plugs most of the way. A great trip. But I was sure glad to get back to my Taco.

The TRD Off Road is as capable as the Wrangler CC9771F3-6A68-4DBB-9B8C-7A58755FE80C.jpg Sports and nearly as capable as the Hard Rock. I enjoyed my times with the Jeeps but I really like the Tacoma and am not looking back. And we have the old Wrangler to knock around in when we want.

I currently own one of each -- my third Jeep and my first Taco. I honestly couldn't tell you which one is "better" overall, as they each have their niche use cases where they really shine, and I've only just begun to enjoy the benefits of the longbed truck.

That said, does anyone want to buy a very meticulously built 2013 Rubicon? I need to make room for a boat! :D

If I were in the market for one, I'd consider it.

Too bad the manual's only come w/Short beds, but that's really the main selling point to me

Trust me when I say this: giving up my manual transmission has been the most difficult part of the switch for me. I drove a stick-shift for the last 30 years of my life, but I needed the longer bed for my use case. The pain is real.

    Thank gawd for OVtune, though!

Think you meant Access Cab, I checked.

Oh, when I can finally get a Wrangler as well, it'll be a stick. Meant right now, it's fix up some little issues w/my Audi, Get the Taco, pay it off quickly, invest, then once I got $$$ to spare, Jeep

I gotta look into the OVtune

I don't truly need to worry about the bed, always extenders and if anything, don't think it'll be the only truck (Probably gonna get one for the company if we need something bigger)
