I don’t rev that high but if it’s there, it’s an extra bonus.

That would be fine with me. Might as well make the M/T tune default "insane mode" since we know how to work three pedals to our advantage...:burnrubber:

Y'all may have seen my drag race video.

You can see me lose a length to the Challenger at the start of 2nd.

This was pre clutch accumulator porting. I could definitely get into 2nd quicker now. If I was starting 2nd a thousand RPM higher I would have never lost that length. Luckily I made it back ;-)

Ok I have to ask, tire size, gear ratio and other mods? Looks like you might have won, what was your ET and was it a heads up race or was it a handicap race?

Just a Friday test n tune. I don't know the Challenger but I lined up with it on purpose because I knew it was a V6 with similar power and weight to the Taco. On paper the Taco is a little slower.

    Here's the exterior video. [IMG]
I got the ET the Challenger got the light :-(

I am stock suspension, tires, and 4.30 gear. OVtune 1.04 no tsb. 2H, tire pressure at 20psi, 1 tap of Trac off for auto LSD to still be active.

Best run of the night was a 15.9 it has more in it. A 4x4 launch would have helped but I was scared. A real LSD would be ideal (I'm looking into options for 2nd gen swap in prep for turbo). It axle hops and needs traction bars (I'm making these soon). It needs another 1k rpm to keep the start of 2nd in the power.

    O yeah and it needs a EFR 7670 ;-)

so you're getting the OV turbo kit?

hey whatever you do with traction bars please post about it. i had one and it tore up my truck pretty good so i removed it but am considering multiple solutions, anyway that's another story.

also I wanted to mention that for performance it looks to me that OV with a free flowing exhaust would be a really good strip combo. i can hook up surprising launches with the Otto tune and the exhaust makes all the difference... but I haven't been to the strip or dyno for that matter.

I think I probably will. I've always been a fan of boosted 2GR's (Lotus).

I have stayed away from exhaust because I don't want it any louder. I like peace and quiet. A turbo makes a great muffler tho! Hahaha.

What traction bars did you have? Budbuilt? I'm definitely going a different direction.

I'd love to know what broke.

Yeah I don't rev that high either, but I also don't mind if it's given to me.

Yes for sure on the 7k rev limit on the base tune, it's not going to hurt anyone who doesn't need or want it.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather see the M/T release play out in this thread rather than the A/T gong show Alpha thread.

    Aye?

There was also that tidbit in the 1.05 release blog about improving engine braking by messing with valve timing. I don't know if everyone would like that, but I know I would :)

I dont get why everyone is so bent on engine braking. I feel i have way better control with the brakes.

So let's have a debate, unlike what happens in the Alpha thread.

Since I don't tow right now, it only really affects me when I'm off road and crawling down a steep hill in 4lo. DFCO plays a major role in this as well, mind you. The cycle of injectors on/off during hill decent is messed up IMO, and increased engine braking along with perhaps some tweaking of DFCO would go a long way to making it bearable.
    What do you guys think?

I like engine braking, feels natural with a manual transmission. Works well on mountain roads, feels like I have more control of the vehicle.
7k limiter, could take it or leave it.
I want more torque down low!!

No idea when I would ever see 7k unless I was drag racing..... I could take it or leave it.

I want DEFCO adjustments/customization. I want predictable (more) engine braking.

In my Jetta, they have a DEFCO delay of some kind. The time seems to be variable, but it is based on when you let off the gas completely. It may also be tied to pressing the brake.
