Still a maybe for me. Waiting to see if my cousin can make it so I’m not driving out alone since it will only be a day trip for us. Don’t have snow camping gear yet

The guys staying over night - what do your Camping setups look like?

Edit: is anyone else doing a day trip Saturday?

Also, i’ve done eagle lakes. Had to go slow when you are driving on the creek over the big rocks on the way to camp over by the river. But the taco passed the test.

Signal peak - made it about half way then we hit a huge mud hole we couldn’t pass. We didn’t have any winches so we just head back out.

    Never wheeled Cisco.

Will my stock taco make it? Or should I sit this one out?

I'm doing day trip only. I don't think anyone is staying a night.

I have a tent, stove, all the fixings. Lately ive been sleeping in the bed of my truck (since i now own a camper shell) But the best is just bivy it on the ground.

    maxresdefault.jpg

edit: Not my photo, just an example of a MSS pulled off the interwebz. But same setup as i have.

Add: My MSS has kept me warm down to -15F (thats where our thermometer broke so idk how much colder it got than that). Last time i was in weather that cold i DID use my tent, but it doesnt do much for heat.

These are photos of one of our snow trips taken by @essjay *

PS. Bear boxes + propane heaters work great for drying out clothes

Its very satisfying... Until a bear walks into your camp in the middle of the night and starts sniffing you inches away from your head.

Those were some of the longest moments of my life right there lol

Go away bear. You're supposed to be hibernating.

    She ain't stock anymore.
I bought a bivy once for backpacking and it lasted exactly one trip, used it the first night and got super claustrophobic. Not like oh this sucks I don't really have room, but full on unreasonable panic, so much so that it makes me anxious just thinking about it. Second night I ended up just sleeping on top of it. That shit unsettled me more than just about anything I've encountered in the woods, which is crazy because it's not that much more confining than a mummy bag.
