    Happy New Year Fellas.

    Hopefully someone can help with my following dilemma. I've read a lot throughout the forum regarding differentials and re-gearing. I plan to get a lift this year, new tires, and wheels. If I'm lucky, I want to get the new 17" volk wheels from ShowStoppersOffroad that come out this summer. Apparently they will weigh 18 lbs. My tires would be Falken 285/70/r17 which weigh 50 Lbs.

    My wheel / tire set up would be ~68 Lbs. I have a 2nd gen Auto DCSB with 3.73 gear ratio. My question is, would I need to re-gear to match the new tire rotation? I occasionally go on fire trails on weekends & do a few trips to Mammoth, but I mainly use the truck to commute to work.

    Why do people tend to regear? To get power back due to heavy tires/wheels? Or simply to match stock specs with tire rotation? Or Both? My Wheel / Tire set up would be super light compared to other people.

    What is the experience for those of you that have 33's but have not regeared?

    Need to? No. I’d do the lift and new tires first, see how it drives/feels and then evaluate if you personally think you need to spend 1500-2000 on the regear. I’m guessing you won’t, but everyone has differing opinions on what is an acceptable loss of power/fuel economy.

    I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish here. Install your parts and then if you feel you need to regear then do so.

    I've got 33's. I didn't regear. I really don't think you'll need to.

    What's your wheel/tire set up? I think your 2017 might have a different gear ratio than mine (If that means anything)
