I have Geico, have had them for many years (5+). No tickets, no accidents etc. I pay about $89 a month, a little more than $1k a year, $500 deductible. I love em. Once I get my Taco I'll probably shop around some and see what I can get

I've never used one of those, mostly just Independent Agents.

Does the broker only get paid if they provide you with a policy (or policys if multiple coverages) that you accept? Or do you pay them a fee for 'shopping' on your behalf?

Or is that something that is at the discretion of the broker?

I am sure they get a fee on the back end that I do not see. The guy I use is someone I know prior to doing business with him. He had an Allstate agency before and sold it off do do this. It has saved me money and seems to work out for himself.

High mileage will actually work against you. As vehicles age, they become suspect from a safety point of view (remember that they deal with statistical averages, and not specific case for a well maintained vehicle).

But probably the big difference is that you have 2 cars on the same policy. They probably don't figure that you'll be driving both vehicles at the same time. Something along the lines of driving to work with the accord, and going camping on weekends with the truck. Right? If you dropped the accord, the Tacoma would go WAY up. In fact depending on how they risk out the two vehicles, it could actually cost you MORE just for the Tacoma than it costs for both, since now you will be commuting with the truck.

arg ya I'm with ya. I'm at about that with full discount. ICBC is a rip.

For the Americans posting, we're jealous of your rates. $2300 CDN is about $1750 USD. Here in BC we have to use ICBC(Crown corporation aka government run) for a significant portion of our insurance and its a bit of dumpster fire of an agency right now. Private insurance has its perks for most people, but it can get expensive if you get a few claims.

His numbers are probably real, but he didn't really explain it right.
He's paying 1100 per year, for 2 cars.
900 for the first car (honda accord), and an *additional 200* for the Tacoma.
He can't drive them both at once, so there is only really a single risk to the insurance company.
Likely also using the honda for commuting, so the Tacoma is parked except on weekends.

$121/month for full coverage with $500 Ded at Geico. Great driving record no moving violations and no at fault wrecks...Louisiana is terrible.

Ameriprise through Costco is the cheapest I've found. $354 every 6 months ($59 a month). I use Ameriprise for our homeowner's insurance too, which is under $1,000 a year.

Also in California, I'm 24 yrs old, squeaky clean driving record and been driving since I'm 16. With Mercury and pay around $1800 a year for my 2019 OR 4x4.
