Has anyone experienced a whitelisting noise coming from their mirrors when going down the highway 65+ MPH? If so, what was the cause/cure?

no but i had this in my old evo. was a bad seal between the mirror mount and the pillar. you could take off the inside cover where the bolts hold the mirror and snug them up and see if that helps.

Just checking... are you sure it's coming from the mirrors and not the LCA? I had the LCA whistle and the dealer put in the plugs per the TSB. I have never experienced a whistle from the mirrors.

If this is the issue, it commonly referred to as the Kazoo. Happens mostly with crosswinds. I solved it by inserting some quarter inch screen door spline into the weatherstripping. Others have used small vacuum tubing, or something like that. basically just fill in some of the spaces in the door seal, and it should go away.

I've also heard of some whistling sounds coming from the Lower Control Arms, there's some small holes in it. Just applying some tape over those holes can fix it.

The issue in the video is clearly the Kazoo...… It's a side wind thing... Door weather strip is not sealing properly. There was a TSB on it, right..?

I solved mine with a strip of 1/2" round foam inserted behind the weather stripping.

yea the video is definitely the infamous kazoo. We're just wondering if OP's problem is the kazoo or some other sound.

yea, the TSB basically replaced the door seal with a new one that has some tubing added to it, effectively doing what people are doing themselves for a few dollars and minutes.

Mine did that too around 75+ (I have 2nd gen.) I ordered a set of these auto vent shade in channel window visors and it's seemed to stop the whistling. Very rarely I get the whistle, I have to be going fast and hit a strong cross wind. But my wife just laughs and says that the truck is going "WOOO WOOO!!!!!" cause it's happy it's going fast.

Anyways. Cleared up the problem. I also wondered if these vortex generators would help if stuck on the plastic part of the mirror.

    Good luck!

That is exactly what my 16 is doing. Drives me nuts!! Is the referenced kazoo something that the dealer would recognize or is that a word given in this posting?? I want to reference something when I call the dealer.

    Thanks

I bought some weather stripping from lowes and applied it to the inside body side of the door opening and it solved this problem. It's maddening on a long trip and was so loud I had a hard time hearing the radio.

Hot chicks notwithstanding, I took my truck to the dealer and they are replacing the door weatherstripping, as there is a TSB covering such. I also asked them to plug the holes in the lower control arms. I'll advise if this was the resolution
