If you dont have kids that are they all the time and they are young, then a simple lock box in your closet will do . Securing it from a robber or an adult is different matter. If its a bedside gun that you plan to use in an emergency , I wouldn't keep it locked up at all, just holstered and ready. That just me though.

Judging from the videos it’s silent. I’ll know later though when it arrives!
That’s the thing though, I don’t want to forget to lock it up. The one I got opens with rfid so I just plan on wearing the bracelet all the time. That way it’s just like having it in a bedside holster. I’ll be able to access it almost just as quickly.

Ar15s chambered in 5.56 with 64 grain gold dot LE is the best home defense weapon and ammo.

If you have a 12 gauge shotgun I'd still recommend that over a handgun, just load it with federal flight control

AR15s are easily one of the worst picks for home defense. Not easy for short range, go straight through walls and risk other members in your household, hard to handle properly in tight spaces.

Shotguns are far and beyond #1, pistols are 2nd. Rifles aren't even on the list

Agree that AR15s are a horrible home defense choice. Also agree that shotguns are a better choice.....but with the correct ammo choice. My old police department shot someone with a 1 ounce slug and it went through him along with 12 walls and stopped in a box of cereal. There is a whole lot of liability and bad things that can happen between 12 walls. I prefer a .45 ACP handgun with a big fat heavy slow projectile, with a weapon light.

Bird shot is the answer, with a tight-cluster round. I don't know all too much about shotgun ammo. That being said, I used to be a .45 guy, but testing has proven that a 9mm is just as good and much cheaper and higher capacity, usually. I partial to Hornady Critical Duty ammo.

That is absolutely not true. Rifles dont go "straight through walls" that depends on the velocity of the round, and type of round. Ar15s are very easy at short range, just know what height over bore is. You have 30 rounds.

Knowing what your target is and what's behind it is part of the 4 rules of firearms safety.

A shotgun slug or 12 gauge will go straight through walls, and using anything less than 12 gauge is suboptimal in a self defense situation. 9mm will also go straight through walls. It depends on ammunition choice.

If you shoot fmj at drywall it will go through.

    I'll put money on that.

When you say "just as good" do you mean for "stopping power" or over penetration?

So you feel confident in saying that you know where every one of those 30 rounds is going to stop in a stressful situation? That's impressive

This ^ unless you live alone a 12 gauge with birdshot is the only safe home defense weapon. 5.56 off the shelf FMJ/steel core will go through 9 sheets of drywall easy.

That's true of single sheet, but as far as a house goes, a pistol or shotgun won't go through wall after after across a house. And an AR is easy to use short range with training, but comparatively is still harder than the other options. The same reason is why the military gives pistols to those in a close-range situation on a regular basis.

They basically come up with the same results in testing.

Advocating on bird shot against human targets? Yeah no.

You load critical duty in 9mm? Did you know the FBI choose that round for its barrier blind properties, specifically the ability to penetrate and impact a target 13 inches through the barrier?

So yeah, that's exactly what you want in a home defense gun lol

I'm in a different situation. I have noone in my house that's not in the room with me, and she sleeps away from the door to our room for that reason. An that is my carry ammo. In my house, I probably wouldn't use my pistol because I'm in a duplex and don't know what's on the other side.

The military gives pistols to people as a secondary weapon. I carried one in iraq. You know how often you hear about dudes clearing houses OConus with pistols if they have rifles? Never. Because they really suck at killing people.
Learning how to rack a shotgun takes more practice and training than an ar. And you have what, 8 rounds vs 30? Come on

Home defense in the United States is not the same as clearing a house in Iraq. Also these type of online firearm arguments ALWAYS end up in everyone agreeing in the end....:bananadead::bananadead::bananadead:
