So my scangauge does display the fuel information correctly, I was just looking for it in the wrong spot.

I was using the Gauges function and there is a FLV gauge that I assume displays (or should) fuel level. That is not showing any data. When I dig into the Trip portion and found the Trip Fuel part, that does display everything correctly. I'm just rather disappointed that I can't display that on the Gauge function since that is what I use most of the time.

I'm actually thinking about getting an Ultragauge now since that seems to have better display capabilities (number of displayed gauges) than the Scangauge does.

 

Dumb(?) question...

If the dashboard fuel gauge isn't displaying correctly sometimes (e.g. it shows half full after you fill the tank sometimes), isn't that most likely a problem with the sender in the gas tank (vs. the ECU or the dashboard needle itself).

And if the problem is with the sender, doesn't that go into the ECU, and then the ECU tells the needle where to read?

And if that's the case, wont the Scangauge read from the ECU and also get the incorrect value?

You could just take off the bed instead.

 

If I have to that's most likely what I'll end up doing.

 

I prefer the UG but it too will not read fuel level either, just calculated. Have to tell the UG when you fill up (there's a shortcut button), also the ability to enter in for partial fuel ups, but that can get old. Sometimes I don't even bother.

Unfortunatley on our trucks the ecu doesn't receive a signal from the fuel level sender. If it does, it can't be read through the OBD port.

 

And yes, I have narrowed it down to the sending unit acting up. So you're thinking a Scangauge wont help me? @Digiratus, anything ?

This is a great point, and one that I alluded to earlier this morning (hahaha, contradicting my post of a few minutes ago). So yeah, the SG might actually work for fuel level when the cluster doesn't b/c it doesn't rely on the sender - it just relies on knowing when you filled up and a calculation of how much fuel it thinks you've used.

So, might still work for you @GallMcOxsbig69, as long as you jump through the SG fill-up procedures (which I'm sure you'd get used to).

You don't "need" the Digital inflator/gauge which would save you $50 ;-)

 

Installed autovents on both front windows..no more getting rained on..

Finally installed my new pedal pad things. I didn't get them for looks but more for the grip they will offer, specifically on the clutch and brake pedals when my shoes are muddy or wet off road. Nothing sucks more than you foot slipping off the clutch because of wet/muddy shoes when you REALLY don't want the clutch out! Removes the OEM rubber pads from the pedals, the clutch was getting really worn out anyhow, cut about an inch off the new clutch pad and then drill a couple holes ad bolt them in place. The new pads are cast aluminum. Feel about the same as the original rubber ones, just grippier. Should also make heel-toe maneuvers easier since the brake and gas pedals are now wider.
