I little wider than a hair. He noticed them while washing the truck. He also broke three clips when he decided to get the OEM.

Thanks for the input. I’ve had no problems yet. Who knows. But what I do know is I’ll be able to buy 6 or 7 more and still be ahead of the oem price.

1 day of hard rain and this is what mad hornets got me, not to mention the Y letter fell off within days, along with the defects and bumps all over the plastic - stay away from them.

I got lucky with my $73 eBay grill. No taping letters on or attaching a random letter. Only 4 screws to attach the TOYOTA to the main grill. No garnish either and TSS works normal after getting the clean sensor error for 100 miles. Sensor had to adapt to the new obstruction in a slightly different place than stock grill.

After much debate, I ordered a $73.99 Pro grille via Ebay. It arrived as a two piece set. The fit and finish is far better than an Ebay grille I ordered and installed on my previous ‘17 Tacoma.

The “TOYOTA” insert needed to be screwed to the rest of the grille. Four screws were included in the shipment, but two were too small. I picked up larger screws at Lowes and used them to hold the insert firmly in place.

The next issue I encountered was the OEM garnish did not line up flush. I tried to maneuver the garnish to get it more flush with the rest of the grille, but ended up breaking the two lower tabs of the garnish. I also broke off the studs at the top of the granish which were held in place by lock nut washes. I’ll probably try to use epoxy to hold the garnish in place. Overall, I’m extremely frustrated.

Would a piece of plexiglass behind the panel that comes on the grill in place of the garnish work to protect the sensor? I have a sheet of thin plexiglass that I have had no use for and thought maybe this might protect the TSS sensor.

I used J-B Weld epoxy to hold the OEM garnish in place after breaking the tabs and studs on the back of the garnish. It was my first time ever using epoxy. I think I got it right. Yet another frustration, the OEM screw to mount the top of radar to the grille didn’t work because the size of the hole is too big. In haste, I went without the screw. I’ll find a larger screw and replace it tomorrow.

Reasonable deduction but it ignores the possibility that the cost of the replacement is secondary to the joy of not looking at the hideous non-pro TRD grille. Almost every mod I’ve done had a functional component except the grille. The simple fact is the cheese grater is hideous.
