    Aloha All,

I've been reading a lot on 255's on Tacoma World. Very helpful! So I went ahead and got a set of Cooper St. Maxx (highly recommended from majority of ya'll) and had a local tire shop swap them with my 265/70/17s Falkens At3 on Method NV Wheels, 0/4.75" offset/backspace. Love the Falkens, just wanted a taller tire. I've read that people had been able to run these on stock suspension, these tires pull to the right at highway speeds, some rub, and some don't. I'm not here to tell ya'll what you already know, I'm just here to attest to these tires/size. AMAZING. For myself, the tires do not pull to the right. Maybe I have been lucky with balancing and alignment shops. A little bit of road noise, but I like that. Makes you feel like you're in a.......truck.

Differences that I can tell coming from 265.70.17 is that I like the way it handles on the road, accelerating from a stop seems faster (to me anyway) even though it's a 10 ply and the 265s were 4ply. Coming from a windy state with crosswinds, the truck gets pushed around a little more on the highway (not a complaint, just comparing the two). Definitely a height difference both visually and physically, it gave me about .5" lift, in a game where the slightest lift can make a difference. Havent taken it off road yet but I've heard nothing but good things about them. Makes the truck look "beefier" especially with the aggressive tread of the St. Maxx. On pavement; flat or sloped, full lock both ways, in drive and reverse, I have no rub anywhere. I know wheel specs factor into that as well. BUT, we will see when offroad. I can almost guarantee I will rub somewhere.

Like said before, I am not here to "teach" but to share a personal first impression of this tire size and specific tire in THAT size. So that maybe I can help someone who is contemplating of buying this tire/size as many of you helped myself in making this decision to cast any doubt of fitment aside and purchasing these tires. For that, I thank you. AWESOME.

    Yea!

I did much reading here on TW before I got new tires as well. Went with exactly what you have.

They are the amazing. I am in love with my Coopers.

@llamasmurf good to hear! I only have about a few hundred miles on them only on pavement and a few dirt roads. No complaints!

I had the ST/MAXX before they are an amazing tire. Figured I would try out the Pro's

I've heard nothing but awesome things about the Pros as well. So far I'm loving the St Maxx.

It's my Daily Driver so it's more for looks than wheeling, but that's okay with me.

Nothing wrong with that. Got the looks and the performance if and when you need it.

Do you have 255/80 StMaxxs that you can compare them to? I am currently running 255/80s and have been thinking about the ST Pros in 255/75 but I dont want to lose too much height.

These are not as tall as the 255/80's use the tire calculator on the home page and put the 2 in and see the difference

UPDATE: They do rub. lol. Finally took them on a trail today. But who cares, I still love these tires on the way they perform and look! Trail was muddy, snow, compacted snow, and ice. St Maxx plowed straight through. Slid a little on ice but what do you expect, its ice. I find that since it's a narrow tire it likes to find the ruts and stay in them. Other than that, handled well. I'm glad I made the decision on these!

Love these 255/75/17 Cooper ST/Pro's but I should have gone 255/80/17 as the 255/75/17 is just a hair bigger than the 265/70/17's So these Brand New tires that got put on today, will soon be replaced with the ST/MAXX 255/80/17's Surprisingly the 255/75/17 Pro's in C Load are the same weight as the Cooper ST/MAXX in 255/80/17.

Yes, I was going to go with the 255 75 17 but I saw that it was just a little bigger than what I was running before, 265s. But you won't go wrong if you do go with the 255 80s. Love them!

I love how they look but I'm just going to sell these Brand New 255/75/17's and get the ST/MAXX in the bigger size.

@metrick1215 this isn't the best pic as one makes me look nose high but I'm not. Not really much of a difference in tire size though.
