Thanks for the feedback. Guess I'll get one of those D-rings on the receiver.

So the hitch itself is okay as a recovery point? I mean, I know it's rated to haul 6000 lbs or so but the force of a recovery could be more than just pulling a trailer. Are there other ways to get a recovery point that don't involve the whole rear bumper approach? Seems odd they don't just put a recovery point in the back like they have on the front.

EDIT: also, could I just run a D-ring vertically through my normal hitch with the ball removed? Or is the recovery type significantly better? I don't have a trailer at the moment anyway.

Front tow hooks off a late model full size ford work well as secondary pick point in addition to the tow receiver.

Thanks. Got a pick from under? Wondering how it's attached.

Blue is factory bolt....red is aftermarket drilled through the frame.

It’s a good idea but I’d still be nervous drilling into any Toyota frame.

I just recovered a dodge power wagon out of a pond when I was in california and did the same thing with a proper pin as he had nothing. The pin was bent and not able to be removed. thankfully I thought about that before hand and used a soft shackle so if it did bend I could undo the soft shackle and thread it out.

Umm, those are not rated recovery points from my understanding and are solely tow points? I know i have seen guys try to use the on fords/dodges/etc and rip them right off thinking they were recovery points. With towing applications as well.

I know how strong they are...it’s all in the math. They have many uses that’s why they are there...as far as pick point it’s all in the rigging.

There are many holes in the frame couple more won’t hurt...could always burn them on.

Was thinking more about warranty issues down the road. Hopefully these frames don’t end up like the older Tacoma’s and start rusting away.

Good way to pull off your rear end like that one poor guy here if you say “anything attached to the frame”...

Good luck with them. seen too many break on trucks at work and rigged up by professional riggers trying to get a truck out of mud/snow banks.

Whatever you do do not yank on them with a snatch rope.

I've been googling around but not sure I know what's ideal. Any suggestion on what would be a good option to attach to the frame for a recovery point?

get the d-ring shackle that goes in the hitch, super easy to attach to by tow truck, off roader, etc. cheap and they work well.

Yup. Perfect example of how not to recover your truck!

WTF? Did he wrap a recovery strap around the axle?

Yes, UBolts snapped and the brakes also held it while the truck continued to be pulled backwards.
