Damn you KO2s

Damn things are either out of balance again, out of round, or a weight fell off.

Not sure when I started feeling the vibes throughout the truck, maybe a month or so ago, but it feels like an unbalanced tire.

Is this common? I've seen thread about the KO2s being a bitch to balance but wtf. Everyone runs these things!

I'm pretty sure it's the tires, by the way. Vibes don't go away in 4wd so not the bearing.
I know what driveline vibes feel like and it ain't that.

I bought the tires at sams club but didn't have them mount and balance because I wanted my other shop to do that, so samsclub voided my warranty. Lol.

The shop that installed them told s to bring them back in and they'd be happy to take a look. At least the shop is awesome about everything. We had trouble with one of the tires initially so he said it's probably that same tire.


Any suggestions? Should I buy a new tire to replace that one and run that as my spare? Spare is currently the stock tire

 

Full size spare cant hurt. Get a matching wheel and do 5 tire rotations. Beyond that, I am of no use for suggestions.

 

Might as well travel a few weeks into the future and then decide. Appearantly hindsight is 20/20.

have you checked for mud or large pieces of gravel? Mud tends to stick to the inside of the rims on these tacoma's, especially on the backside there is a lip there.

 

Mine never stayed balanced either. They're a cheapo tire with an expensive name, take that as you will. I'll never run them again for a lot of reasons.

 

What is so cheap about them?

IMO, I'm on my 6 set of them, have run coopers, goodyear, etc, and they are a pretty damn good tyre. Are there better options yes, but they do everything well, are tough as hell, and wear well.

 

Place the bad tire at the rear then just do a side to side rotation . This will only work safely if your tire is not directional .

I want to say KO2s are directional but I'm not certain.

I didn't check thoroughly but I'm sure it would have come off by now. I'll check in the morning.

 

Pretty comfortable with the fact that I'll have to rebalance these once a year at least. Hopefully that's all it is.

 

Look at duratracs also. Haven’t had a problem with them at all

 

That was one of the several reasons I decided to go with Toyos. They balanced beautifully and look and ride awesome.

 

my 2015 Pro came wit KO2's they were a terrible tire, took them off and sold them after 4000 miles. worst tire ive ever had..

 

Did the tire shop use tape weights to balance your tire/wheel ????

If the rim is dirty or has grease or oil these tape weights can or will fall off

 

Bent rims?
That’s what my problem was.
The KO2 is an awesome tire that I’m glad I didn’t listen to the naysayers opinions when researching them. Hell, when I found out that my stock rims were bent I made myself drop some dough on new rims and got my lovin feeling back.

 

I had a weight fall off that caused some. Recently some heavy caked on mud and man the vibes and shakes are crazy. I may have knocked more weights off with last time out. Need a rebalance but been oaky aside from that.

 

I had an issue with a full size Chevy and they did what they called road force balancing and solved my issue but they were a different tire. For all I know that’s how everyone balances a tire nowadays?
