2011 4x4 Reg Cab - Hunting - Fishing

Haven’t posted here in a lil while. While waiting on some armor for the taco the boat has been getting some TLC.

I’ve torn up the cable channel and filled old holes in. I also don’t see a need for some of the rod holders on the gunnels and not happy with holes there filled in with silicon. Previous owner had cracked the bow while launching I guess, and put a tube of silicon to fix it, so I put a bunch of glass there to patch it up. Almost ready to gel coat.


Once the gelcoat is repaired I’ll replace old copper wires for marine grade tinned copper. And install a jack plate...

Thanks! I had a 5 day hunt there, that started on a Friday. Saw him first on the Sunday evening hunt, and killed him Monday evening and found him Tuesday morning.

 

What is the outside temperature when it is hunting season for you? Aking to compare here, if I could afford to let a deer overnight in the woods in september and not worry about the meet when I find it

 

Temp varries a lot here, always a gamble. It was 40 out that night. I’d much rather find it right away but I didn’t have much sign, no blood trail at all to track him- so the wildlife refuge I was in said I couldn’t stay much longer than sunset.

 

Got some gel coat from the store that rhymes with pest latrine. Only had about 10 min of work time and it started chunking up. Blue tape really is to remind me where to touch up.

Next I’m gonna wet sand with 600 grit. Then 1000, 1500 and 2000 if I can find it. Then rubbing compound and wax.

Installed Yakima tracks and a Baja Rack today.

 

Drove out to Arizona to catch the last week of OTC Archery deer season for mule deer. I had a spikehorn in shooting range, didn't take the shot. Saw a decent forked horn buck but couldn't get him in bow range. Best hunts seemed to be sitting on a water hole. Can't say I didn't see any deer- some days I saw close 30, there just wasn't much for mature bucks.





Climed up the mountain in the picture above and didn't see anything but I did see some of the biggest mulie scat around. Just wasn't fresh enough for me to keep on that spot.


Group of deer below- spotted them a mile away and stalked them down.
