It sure has been a wet winter so far. Unfortunately, I think we're going to get another round of rain this weekend. But that won't stop me from smoking some pork tomorrow.

On the topic of dogs, I saw the satellite image of my home and my yard looks terrible!

Ya I was looking at them trying to decide which one I would want and then went to accessories and saw the price. INSANE

May need to figure out how to make your own board to go in it. Total BS that with the cost it doesn’t come built it.

Right?! I'm hoping someone has done it. I'm sure a kit from another company may work... But want some confirmation prior to trying that.

I want to email and bitch but that won't change anything.I'd be OK with 150, but 300 isn't worth it. That's a lot of meat for the pit. Or another Waguy brisket

I'm really liking this idea with the raspberry pi. It ought to be relatively simple to address, too. I'd be surprised if there wasn't already code on Sourceforge or similar to do this very thing.

Ya I can see $100-$150 for an add-on like that but to think $300 is fine to charge is out of hand. I was looking at Fast Eddy's pits yesterday also, seem to be pretty high end and they included WiFi lol.

Yeah, the PEC1000 was on my short list, but I didn't like the internal layout. It's just absurd that $1500+ pits can't include a $10 accessory, but it's business and makes sense for them. Just sucks for us

I've got the probe board 1/2 built already (just need to add the 8 connectors lol) and I've got a Pi 3 and a Pi Zero, not sure which I'm going to use yet. I've got the touch display also. I've found some code I'm going to modify and try out. I hope to do it in the next few months depending on if I can get the other projects around the house done so I can spend some time.

Oh don't start me. I rescued a Lab/Aussie mix a few months ago after my wife's old Lab had to be put to sleep (ok he was our dog, and I cried like a little baby while driving him to the appointment. And in the death room. And on the way home. And a little something in my eyes now, though it's been a year to the week). Little bastard is insane for a ball, and has run a racetrack into the grass/mud in my back yard. He's lucky he's a sweetheart and I love him.

I had to have my Siberian put down after 14 years with him. That was total suck, made me super emotional. My wife and I sent a paw print plaque the vet sent us the other day when going through some boxes in storage. Made us both sad.

For the setup/ I was thinking mount it in a small pelican case or similar so it is watertight. Then as far as connections go, run them through a WP penetration, and break it out on a barrier strip. At least for the prototype. I would probably connectorize it at the bulkhead so I can have an umbilical for easy storage as well as to use or with multiple smokers (because I am determined to figure out how to properly use astick burner, meantime I will use the WSM that @Da0mite was so kind as to give me.)

Good way to do it if you want to be able to connect and remove it. Mine I'm going to put it in my current Traeger for my personal use so it will mount up in the place the old ones in now. For the converted commercial fridge one, I designed a case to mount everything in and am going to 3D print it once I get my printer out of the storage unit. :)

    My condolences on your loss.

I saw something the other day. Something along the lines of "Their lives are a portion of ours. But we are their whole lives". And right below, a beautiful black Lab and a red tri Aussie. I have a 14 year old red tri aussie and I see the end coming.

    Bastard feels. Who needs em.

Sucks man, they become a member of the family. We had to have him put down a while back and a few years ago when my wife wanted to get another dog we first started to looking at getting another Siberian and neither of us could do it. So we ended up getting a Golden Retriever. She's a super sweet dog and well behaved but HOLY heck man is she ever a needy little thing. She ALWAYS has to be right next to someone. I swear though she smiles at you when she comes up and you pet her. Drives her insane when I ignore her when she wants my attention. She will start barking at me and trying to push her nose into my hand. Wife and daughter laugh when she does it.

Yeah it took a couple months for me to break Ollie (Lab/Aussie) of barking like a madman every time I get home or leave. He even got Kylie (Aussie) in on the game. And don't even try to walk into the next room alone, or use the bathroom without an audience. Sniffling noses under the door and paws waving at you under it, with lots of whining.

And since fattys were brought up. Here is a post from 6 years ago. Dang that was some meat feast!
    ...

Had a party this weekend for my b-day so I decided to feed the crew with some smokey treats.

Did 4 different fatties. Here is the first with cream cheese, bell peppers, and onions.

The second one was pizza style with salami, pepperoni, onions, bell peppers, olives, and mozzarella (pic before cheese went on)

Third was pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, and red chilis

Last was the breakfast fatty. Cheddar cheese, hash browns, eggs, veggies. Wrapped in a bacon weave.

Here are the first round of meats going on the smoker

and the breakfast fatty ready for consumption

And here is a pic after the breakfast fatty was pulled from the smoker and the rest of the meats loaded. The other 3 fatties, 3 racks of ribs, and 2 pork shoulders.

No pics of post cooking due to being too busy eating :) It all turned out really good and all of it was consumed that night.

    One more because I'm hungry...

Did a fatty and some ribs yesterday. Fatty stuffed with onion, bell pepper, pastrami, and cheese. Bacon weave. Smoke with apple wood.
