I will change blinker settings for all TW members with techstream for the low price of 3 beers. For a whole 6 pack I will also turn off your seatbelt chime.

    No shipping.

No, you didn't 'simply said' anything. You were hostile, and you continued the negativity for what, 4 or 5 posts now? You made your point the first time. Who's business is it if someone wants to change the blinks, the tires, the suspension, the seat covers, whatever? You need to ask yourself why what someone else wants for their truck bothers you so much. I bet you have NO friends willing to put up with your all-knowingness.

I've been iffy about this and was surprised to read in a post earlier a dealer agreed. Wary that someone in an accident without seatbelt points a finger and says HE turned it off so I forgot. It's his fault. Ridiculous who gets the blame for other people's own fault, and wins in court.

That aside, it IS annoying. It stops eventually though.

I was kind of skeptical too since I couldn't find it in any of the menus. Perhaps there is a secret/ hidden service menu in our radio units like they have in Honda/Acura? I've also done tons of VCDS (VagCom) changes on my VWs and Audis via dongle that I own. Is there such a dongle for Toyota?

All of the Carista customization options are identical to all the options shown in TechStream or that can be done at the dealer. I was hoping to find a secret one to shut off the key-in door chime. No dice. WYSIWYG in Carista.

Edit: Also, Carista is faster at the changes. Using TS with a Tactrix cable took a lot longer to click through the customization menus. Not a big deal, just something that I noticed.

The seat belt light on the tach is still on when the driver or the passenger, if present, doesn't have the seat belt(s) on. That is more than enough warning / notification for me.

    Not too much
My dealer changed mine to 7 blinks, for free, during my 15K Toyota Care checkup. Somewhere on TW is a list of things the dealer can change for you.

I had it done to my RAV4 when I had it in for service 2 years ago. The service writer jumped at the chance to do it; he said they didn't get too many opportunities to use Techstream for things like this. He also said it would allow them to train a tech in its use - I wasn't charged for it either.

The red warning light in the instrument cluster stays on whenever a front occupant is not buckled up.....always.
When I asked the service advisor to turn off the seat belt chime the technician said he didn't know if it was possible but would check when he changed the turn signal blink count. He said he was surprised that he could turn it of once he saw that it was an option using tech-stream.

The seat belt chime is not mandatory and NOT a safety "device" it is just a reminder. Turning it off causes no legal/liability issues for anyone. Besides, there is actually a LAW that requires seat belt use in most or all states....if one doesn't buckle up they have broken a law and cannot use ignorance as an excuse to violate the law.

I must say that the trolling on this thread is ridiculous....those same trolls have likely made many modifications to their own Taco's....maybe they should have gotten a unanimous approval from all here before daring to change their own vehicle?
